Their column does not meet any resistance from the local authorities and the police and is already approaching Moscow. Monday is declared a non-working day in Moscow.

Isn't Wagner literally a group of neo-nazis? How is them being in charge going to be any different/better :skull:

Russians fighting among themselves and depleting their own supplies/infrastructure is a net positive that opens many other opportunities, like Belarus seizing control over its own territory, or Ukraine gaining a major breakthrough while Russian military is in disarray.

What I don't get. Why isn't Russia doing an air strike on the Wagner group on their way to Moscow? I don't want them to but from Putin's point of view it would seem easier than risking them get to Moscow.

Too much risk of civilian deaths. I'm not pretending Putin's a saint here, but given his promise to his citizens that this fight would never reach the homeland has been broken, he has to be strategic in his response.

@Espresso something's definitely about to happen in Belarus. This Belarusian public figure released a statement in which he said that a person from lukashenko's circle with a part of security forces will turn against lukashenko soon and urged Belarusians to wait for "the signal"

I agree that all Belarusian anti-government forces need to act NOW because they might not have this chance later assuming prigozhin fails in russia

What actually is martial law?

What actually is martial law?

Is the substitution of a civilian government for military rule, and the suspension of civilian legal processes for military powers. Martial law can continue for a specified amount of time, or indefinitely, and standard civil liberties may be suspended for as long as martial law continues.

Just to note here, Russia and Turkey published contradictory versions of this event. According to Russia, Turkey pledged full support for the Russian leadership including Putin. According to Turkey, they merely asked Putin to act "responsibly"

Just speculating here but it seems like Putin is still reluctant to attack the approaching Wagner column, possibly due to the atrocious publicity it would be? Even though the rhetoric on both sides is getting pretty extreme, maybe he is still holding out for a face-saving conciliation with Wagner. We don't know the real extent of Russia's available military capabilities, but it is hard to believe they wouldn't have some airforce capability left to bomb a convoy that is approaching in a straight line on a highway
