You guys had been saying that NewJeans won’t ever top their debut and this comeback was gonna be a bomb ever since they washed your 4th gen faves :deadvision: Im sorry but I hope that someday you can cope with the fact that MHJ and ADOR are here to stay and put other companies to REST :bird:

no way anyone said nj was going to bomb next comeback

no one here actually hates that group so there’s no point going hard defending them

aespa had way more haters the minute they debuted :lmao:

Lily is really the best singer of the 4th gen. Too bad her voice is waisted on awful tracks

How does Gfriend's older work negates the fact that Newjeans is the first group to achieve two PAKs with a 2000's inspired sound?

Adele single-handedly ended the EDM era and started the ballad trend that happened in 2012. Did Adele have to invent ballad music?

TDxVOyt.gif

Not NJ being compared to Adele now :toofunny3: Adele was always positioned as an anti-pop star. 21 stood out and smashed in an era of Gaga/Rihanna/Katy/Kesha etc and 25 came after Taylor's mega domination with the Big Pop Era 1989. She was part of that music shift towards ballady songs but she didn't "end" the EDM era because we had several EDM smashes after that.

Sure NewJennies aren't serving noise/girlcrush/cutesy & girly concepts, but that does not necessarily mean that they are the ones who started this chill Y2K/old-school pop/RnB trend in music. They are not popularizing an already existing and popular trend.

A real example of setting/popularizing a trend would be 2NE1 with Girlcrush before BLACKPINK made it a thing again and took it to a whole new level.

The day IVE/LSFM/NJ have their first proper flop or underperformance will be a kii

She's probably battling against Pink Fantasy's Yechan

There's a HUGE difference in doing a concept and turning it into a trend. Was Mariah Carey the first pop artist to ever feature a rapper?

Throwback influences are everywhere in K-pop:

Uh Oh and Pink Venom to late 90's hip-hop.

Automatic and Dreams Come True to late 90's rnb.

Weekend to 80's city pop. It's a common thing in music.

But it's crazy how all of those songs are being lumped together to create a narrative. They're not even inspired by the same time period.

None of those songs integrate the distinct element found in 2000's mainstream music: contemporary rnb and it's aesthetics.

Newjeans was the first group to mix that with K-pop and and get a #1 SMASH. That's how you create a trend.

And if you don't remember anything from their release, I'll remind you how it was highly praised for being fresh, which is something hard to do in K-pop, an industry that has tried everything under the sun.

Newjeans can't turn anything into a trend if the trend was already being done. We're talking about newjeans starting a Y2K aesthetic trend. At least, I hope we are because it's even more funny to pretend anyone doing R&B inspired music in K-pop is introducing something new to the culture that wasn't done before. BLACKPINK made one a hit during their debut all those years ago but I never saw no damn BLINK running around saying they inspired others to start doing chill R&B songs. :ahh:

She’s good but I don’t think she’s better than Ning Ning? I think NN and Lily are the best of their gen.

I’m  not familiar with every gg but I think Monday is also a very good vocalist, with good power even if she still struggle with some high notes…

Just like how people said KDA didn’t start AI concept because they didn’t hit big :bird:

Literally everyone there said Aespa was inspired by KDA. The difference is that they actually own their concept since barely anyone is doing Kwangya stuff.

this thread's obsession with hating on everything that doesn't come from their favorite group or company is getting so stale

i get second hand embarrassment when I see certain avatars and opinions :hoetenks:

The Knets are trending this video again because of all the covers happening this week. They're saying this is the best cover of a senior song by a rookie group and I must agree  :gaycat1:

it's such a struggle to get through this first song here (straight up noise) but then they excel so much during Candy! maybe nct should pull a NJ and become a 90s/Y2K-esque group :gaycat3:

of course NewJeans weren't first to do the Y2K style but like it or not, this style will now be always heavily associated with them

like when Generation came out or when Fifty Fifty debuted I saw so many people comparing them to NewJeans or calling them "NewJeans style" and I don't think it's going to go away

it's like when 2NE1 properly introduced girl crush to Kpop but now it's mainly associated with Blackpink especially for 4th gen songs

Only 10 hours left :jonnycat:

I think I’m going to have Priority on repeat. Love the old school vibe and the adlibs.

Time after time is going to be a MOMENT, I hope that they’re going to perform it LIVE !

And ofc the Kai and Seulgi collab song, who sound like a cute bop :duca:

this is……… even if the project was put on hold it’s just delusional to say that aespa owns the concept when KDA a LoL’s concept is far more developed than kwangya mess, please stop with this :rip:

and then in the comments above and below people are making some stupid excuses about NJ concept being used, known and popularized before :deadbanana4: madness, you just can’t make that up

Blinks, I think we may need to start a petition asking them to ban groups

from covering BLACKPINK. They all fail miserably....

like wtf was this?! :biblio:

I'm tired of these groups playing in the Pinks faces, it's disrespect atp, not flattery

the literal only artists to do BLACKPINK justice are A.C.E & Gaho and he's a damn soloist

i mean Y2K has been a trend in the past few years from fashion to music but NewJeans is the first group to make it their whole “concept” so

I remember when everyone tried to deny that SM didn’t try to make BP 2.0 because they were more experimental(To them) when the only difference is their kindergarten AI concept :deadvision:

yeah, 4 members, girls crush (but with AI theme), „expensive” and unreachable members, barely releases new content (any kind), brand deals, US expansion (with some weird mediaplay)… nothing alike

and they even stole (or „inspired from”) KDA concept and their stans pretends it’s something that was never a thing before when KDA made waves as an truly AI group

on a positive note

see what happens when you know the assignment?!

Groups should cover the Pinks POP songs like LSG or AIIYL and stop trying to cover their gc songs.

Am I the only one who's not interested at all in NJ? I don't see the appeal. Their music is good but forgettable.

You just have to look at them and how much SM invested on aespa. They literally birthed NMIXX.  :giraffe:

It just makes me really appreciate BP more

you can try to copy and duplicate the formula, but the results will remain the same. FAILURE

BP really just have that magic that can't be replicated
