Hell, multiple boygroups got actual hits during those times, which is unthinkable now. So perhaps that explains why 2nd gen groups are able to somehow snag hits 15 years in when that's probably not going to happen for 3rd of 4th gen girl groups (besides perhaps Blackpink), and when it hasn't really happened for 1st gen groups either. Also, Kara are being helped by the fact that When I Move is an instant classic in their discog. Perfect choice for them.

Jennie’s SOLO was long ago and Rose’s release was pretty frontloaded. Jisoo has hype and angry stans on board. Wasn’t her digipack the most ordered one on ktown? And then sooyas rioted when Rose solo happenned on Born Pink and when it comes to Jennie, she didn’t have the chance to show us her power post proper kpop blow up, sales are steadily growing so we will see what are her capabilities, The Idol will give her an even bigger exposure - I also feel like her music is more vulnerable, authentic and I believe she will have input in her next release, it may help her image and chart wise her „untouchable, cold and double-sided” it girl status in Korea can be well translated to western markets, we will see next year, it will be kinda „make it or break it” year for her, the things she worked on for the past two years will unfold For Jisoo I was talking about the digitals, streaming and charts records. I know she will sell extremely well with her physicals, her mv will surely have a lot of views, more than Rosé. But for the rest idk. Honestly if I was her I would put the solo on standby and I would film a Netflix drama instead! And for Jennie except maybe the collab if it’s real I don’t see how she can cb next year lol. I can’t see YGE knowing how to handle 3 BP Blackpink projects

discreetinside Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 Let me share some of my 2023 predictions here 1) 4th Gen gg - New Jeans first comeback will be very successful and being a million seller. - IVE release their PROPER FULL album somewhere around Jan-Feb before embarked on Asia tour/fan meeting on Mac-Apr. Their album will have major success and may even broke NJ comeback million seller records within months. - LSFM doing great on comebacks albeit not as strong as NJ and IVE comeback success. -Baemon will either have gigantic smash debut or underwhelming debut depend on the songs and YG planning. - Aespa: See Baemon 2) 4th Gen bg - Stray Kids continue to grow bigger worldwide and may finally start to win daesangs. - Treasure popularity continue to grow (albeit in slower rate) especially in Japan thanks to their Japan tour and their MAMA live performance - Trainee A debut will be a success mainly due to the residue of their senior popularity. - Some random nugu group will get minor success due to members act on a BL webtoon drama.

I guess the difference is that Kara were probably the 4th, 5th or even 6th biggest 2nd gen girl group in Korea, and yet they are remembered. I don't think equivalent 3rd gen acts like say Gfriend will be having hits in 2030
cloudbusting Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 ugh hope she can either find a company willing to see she has a niche audience and capitalize on it to grow or secure funding somehow

Xalric Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 (edited) So JYP rejected this song for ITZY, fun fact, EVERGLOW, Blackswan and Hyoyeon also rejected it. JYP also rejected this one too for ITZY (it was sent for Sneakerz era) Edited December 6, 2022 by Xalric
Pluto6 Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 To all the old hags in here who have been Kpop fans way longer than I have: What did popularity and success ranking look like with 2nd gen girl groups? From what I have observed it looked like this?: 1. SNSD 2. 2NE1 3. Wonder Girls 4. Sistar 5. f(x) 6. T-ara 7. Kara 8. 4minute 9. miss A 10. Apink Am I right or should I give it up to Deelishis?

Would be a perfect title track for the current "grown-up" ITZY style slightly reminds me of f(x) as well and I'm still pissed they rejected Love Sniper Edited December 6, 2022 by Flomik

I think that the latter has the material ready if we take the new track into consideration, it’s just that the fans will go mad if she releases anything before Jisoo and they need do solve that somehow…
DelRey Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 (edited) You still believe BP is gonna release something next year They took 2 years and gave us 6 new songs, 1 reject from The Album era and 1 reject from Rosé album. It's hard to believe YG will let them release new music so soon and Jisoo seems like she doesn't want to have a solo debut so... Edited December 6, 2022 by DelRey

They were kinda like Momoland, really.
