I mean, what payola? NewJeans came out od novewhere, with 2 weeks delay on streaming services, no famous members, people wanting to cancel them because of Min Hee Jin and they still cleared all rookie groups 

 

IVE had an edge of Wonyoung and Yujin out of the gate and it’s not even possible to compare their later work with NJ since they only have one ep for now  but 3 national hits already  they are ROTY in my eyes
