They are also helping other groups in Japan so everything is relative No, I went back and read the thread before posting and it was @Wake Up who just gave KARA credit for their Japan success as an all-Korean group. Then others also gave credit to SNSD too. Nothing wrong with that, because it is factual. Interestingly, the same members who always accuse "SM sheep" of being "oversensitive" were the ones flipping out for pages and pages over the KARA/SNSD comments.

TWICE benefited from that, plus a THIRD of the group is literally Japanese. That opens doors in a way that was not available to full Korean groups like SNSD or KARA. Putting them all on the same table is disrespectful. Some people need to just sit down and eat their food. And pick up a history book while they're at it. Funny that anti-korean propaganda post-Dokdo island dispute was what ended SJJD reign in Japanny.

BUT the way this thread has some individuals who always try to downplay Twice’s achievements, and always have to compare them to their SM gg counterparts and just CANT praise/congratulate them and move on….it really is some kinda bitterness isnt it?

This discussion started from a reply mentioning KARA which is not an SM group B. I agree with you that "this was about Twice" and yet, I saw in the last few pages users bringing up f(x) and even RV out of the blue, when they have nothing to do with this particular conversation, the only purpose was to drag them and bait their stans. C. If you want to talk about "butthurt" and critical comments, let's talk about how aespa is treated in this thread, those girls can't even breathe in here without someone claiming they're wasting oxygen. I don't follow them much, but Mina seems to be doing better than she was in 2019. Maybe she will stay.

J line has opened so many doors for Japanese idols and I would say even encouraged the produce groups. I mean how many Japanese members have debuted in the last two years alone? Twice just came off a huge hit and dome tour so why are we even discussing this just because they had some advantages compare to gen 2 doesn’t take these facts away.

Shou7 Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 Twice's success in Japan is undeniable, and they clearly still have a strong fanbase there, but interest from the GP has kinda died (NiziU's debut didn't help either). Their album sales are still decent, but they haven't really had a HIT there since... TT??? Either way it's been a while (Feel Special is doing fine longevity wise but really lacks in ubiquity). Having Japanese members definitely help, but I think it's much more important to have regular Japanese output and tie-ups+TV appearances to maintain a consistent presence there. I find that almost all companies that make a serious shot at success in Japan go all in in publicity for a few months to get a hit. And even if said hit does happen, they just peace out of Japan, save for a few performances and concerts here and there every so often. Which is a problem because any scaling back of publicity screams fad to the GP, which reduces interest in future comebacks. The fact that Perfume!!!!! of all groups are topping the girl group power ranking really just goes to show that the GG scene in Japan is pretty much an empty house. It's going to be interesting to watch how HYBE is going to manage LSFM in Japan because that throne really is theirs for the taking if they manage to invest smartly.

I stan Twice so my eyes naturally go to who’s constantly undermining their success and it’s 90% of the time SM STANS. I have been in this thread long enough now to know that. So please keep your carefully constructed centered essays to yourself because I see what I see. Your paragraphs are not gonna change what I see. Thank you.
