FEARLESS is a nice enough bop, but it doesn't make a SPLASH. I can't drag the song in itself for now since I've listened to it today for a numerous amounts of time. I'll have to see how it ages but it feels like a song that after a while it will age and I'd play it only when I'm in the mood to work out. The music video is obviously attempting a sexy/"sexualised" concept and it's kind of failing since the only ones that I feel are able to pull it off are Sakura, the girl with the bob (Chaewon?) and the girl with hollow cheeks (Yunjin?). The girls are all visually stunning and on point, but at the same time lack the uniqueness that you see in a group like BlackPink or Twice. The music video, while it wasn't cheap, it felt empty and a bit bleak.

We'll have to see how FEARLESS does digitally in Korea once the promotions start, but I would be concerned if it doesn't make a splash considering the fact that the song is easy to listen to and the "whachulookingat" part can be easily turned into a viral tiktok dance.

The only other song on the mini I've listened so far is "Blue Dance". It sounds like a cheap rendition of a bad Red Velvet B side, except that the vocals are not on RV level and the vocal production (as per HYBE tradition) is trash. KAZUHA's voice in her sing-talking part on the title track is not necessarily bad, more like an aquired taste I would say. The girl with the bob is the stand out for me.

 

Onto more interesting releases today:

 

If we ever meet again is a beautiful balad/trot/whatever genre the song is and rightfully outcharted other released songs today. Ahjumas might've served some taste Lim Young Woong is hot (to me) and in this pic he's giving TROT Jay Park

Speaking of 4th gen GG debuts, since everyone it's doing a ranking:

 

SO BAD > ELEVEN > BLACK MAMBA > O.O > FEARLESS > WA DA DA > DALLA DALLA

DALLA DALLA is one of ITCHYs least memorable TTs. WA DA DA is a song that it's so bad it's good. FEARLESS is serviceable. O.O is a cuntier version of NEXT LEVEL and I will not offer any explanation for it. Black Mamba is a solid kpop song. Eleven has just so many catchy vocal parts and while it's a standard kpop song, it doesn't fade into the background and remains memorable. So Bad is like a timeless moment, literally KPOP & POP perfection.

Considering how YG kinda went the sellout route and debuted a mini-NCventeen in Treasure, I wouldn't count out the massively multiplayer girl group followup.  Just for the digital trinkets, alone!
