I'll never get over how the Lover era could've been bigger than Teenage Dream and Future Nostalgia had she just released the album a little earlier in 2019 to avoid the start of the pandemic, made Cruel Summer the lead single and scrapped the hideous ME!ss, You Need To Calm The Pandering, and white feminist anthem The Man

The only hits on that album are Cruel Summer and maybe Paper Rings. No way in hell it would’ve fared a TD sized performance :rip:

Literally almost any other track on the album could've been a bigger hit than the songs she actually released as singles:rip:

I’m sorry but ITHK? London Boy? Dead on arrival, laughing all the way to the bank

Need and AOTGYLB aren’t pop radio sounding hits so they wouldn’t have smashed

and Lover WAS a single, it fared pretty poorly :rip: For an artist so centered around the concept of romantic love she has yet to write a great wedding song (not that she’s really tried outside of Lover)

She does have an engagement staple with Love Story and its proposals, though :jonny: something the other girls just don’t have

it'll have a better top 10 run on the bb200 than either of those anyway

Excuse you, "Lover" is excellence and will pass 1 billion streams this year. Put some respect on her name!

Not the I Think God Knows slander tho. That would have SMASHED on US radio formats and its bridge is literally a holy moment, put some respect on her name :siptea:

I would've loved Afterglow as a single. I also think an orchestral remix would sound incredible since it really brings the drama.

I like the song but I think the ITHK falsetto chorus would've been too polarizing to SMASH on pop radio.

Yeah I was surprised by the lack of Afterglow mentions, it's probably the song that has the best chance of smashing on radio and streaming too. Very easy listening and catchy chorus.

Realistically, I feel like 1989 TV will cap off the rerecordings, its probably gonna be delayed to like 2025 or sumn bc Debut TV needs all the rollout hype + Rep TV needs some well deserved public love after being paid dust.

1989 is the symbolic peak cornerstone of TS (with New Romantics as the lead single ofc :fan:)

it’s so crazy to me how we all thought she would pump them all out in like one year, with with even the prospect of waiting two years sounding incredibly long.

and here we are more than three years later and not even halfway through :skull:

don’t get me wrong, i’ve NEVER been this fed in my life, to the point of exhaustion and having to force myself to not listen to her

music for a couple of months now so that I wouldn’t be burnt out by the time SNTV arrived.

that being said, I know she wants to treat the TVs as mini eras and space them out but I really hope the TVs are done sooner rather than later

I hope we get a pop album produced mainly by Aaron in the future. Contender for best pop album of all time me thinks

Taylor and the National has already done the best they could together and everything they'll do from now will be inferior.

I will manifest it sis, you’ll get it! I was very stressed during the last two weeks, the process was exhausting but I got it for the last show she announced. I was sure I wasn’t gonna make it

You’ll get it :heart2:

I get you. I still have exactly two weeks to go and I feel like I won’t stop being this (mirror)ball of anxiety until I know for a fact if I get the tickets or not. Hopefully I do :dancehall3:

Epiphany is one of her most underrated songs. It might not be a singalong bop; it might not be relatable to most. But as someone who appreciates history and has experienced first-hand a society in collective grief and trauma, it’s so deeply soul-crushing and captures the fight for survival and the psychological coping so well:chick3: Never heard another song about that before.
