I start to be fan so late. In 2008 I loved love story and I had the song as ringtong, also I used to watch to you belong with me video a lot, but here in Spain she wasn’t still a star. After that I became casual listener but just of her singles, specially red and 1989 which were very popular, and look what you made me do. With all the polemics with Katy, boyfriends, the Kardashians…I had a different vision of how Taylor was, but not in a bad way, I though she was kinda chaotic and diva but I liked it. It was with Rep Stadium tour in Netflix when I started to be the obsessed with her music and I started to listen her whole albums, search all her performances, interviews, facts of her career…indeed Me! Was the first time that I woke up at 6 AM to be awake during release (I don’t know how I didn’t run away lol)

I'm from PA (not really near where's from) but everyone was buzzing about a new country singer being from the state when the mixtape dropped, nnn. The first song I stanned was Our Song. Some snobby bitchy girl in my 5th grade class was bragging that "my dad knows her dad" because I guess they went to school together :skull: Bridget if you're reading this, you were a c**t!

But yeah I have very fond memories with the debut, I think those of us that do will always connect with it in a different way. Like me and my cousins were hammering it on our sh*tty little iPod Nano speakers from Five Below in summer 2008, and I was jealous because they got to see her perform at a country festival when I was on vacation. We would talk about how we were so excited for her second album, we hoped she would make more songs like Our Song and Picture To Burn. It wasn't even fathomable the kind of career she would end up having. Like, I think people who weren't paying attention don't realize how the debut and its singles still felt massive for a country album and era and it maintained its prominence from the time Tim McGraw was a hit until Love Story dropped. Teardrops was a huge pop radio hit (#7 peak). It's kind of weird to think that she took over the world and is still on top of the music industry sixteen years later, and how her debut just feels like a little blip in her past not worth paying attention to to a lot of her biggest fans.

Let's talk about the biggest waste of Taylor's career not making Enchanted the lead single of Speak Now.  and the biggest hits of his career like Cruel Summer, I Did Something Bad, exile, champagne problems .  Sadly, because of that.  and mid-range friendly hits like Getaway Car, Paper Rings, Don't Blame Me, no body no crime, august....

I loved her hair so much during the SNL performance. It was so long and healthy looking, I hope she does chop it off.

are y’all ready for Met Gala (Taylor’s Version)

I agree with all of this. It only recently occurred to me that Taylor Swift wasn’t just her first album, but it was also Nathan Chapman’s first album and Big Machine’s first album. Like, so many of our big stars (in both country and pop) have major labels behind them from the start, pairing them up with hit songwriters and hit producers to ensure that their investment in a new act will pay off. Meanwhile, Taylor’s debut album was written by a teenage girl with a few songwriters who weren’t very in at the time and basically didn’t have anything better to do than write with a teenager after school got out; it was recorded in “a shack” and produced by a guy with no professional experience; it was distributed by a label that would have shut its doors within a year if the album had failed—Taylor once talked about them sitting on the floor preparing the envelopes to ship the physical singles of “Tim McGraw” to radio stations because they didn’t have furniture or employees to do that for them. The entire album was just a bunch of ordinary people determined to make something happen because they believed in this frizzy haired little girl. It’s so special, and such a unique debut for a major star like her.

And honestly, even Fearless gets treated like a little blip in her past not worth paying attention to, even though it’s a diamond certified album with multiple iconic smash hits that won AOTY and became the most awarded country album of all time. Some stans like bragging about these things, but nearly everyone around here ranks Fearless in their bottom three of her career. :biblio: It kinda hurts considering Fearless TV just cemented the fact that the album is 13 perfect classic songs in a row.

I was thinking about this too, like if somehow she was never able to make an album as big as Fearless and kind of petered off into a niche category success wise (like Alanis after JLP) she would still be considered one of the most successful female and country artists ever on the back of that album alone and for decades younger artists would still cite Fearless as an inspiration, and even that is now treated like just a litte building block to her pop domination because of how massive she is :deadbanana: Like, she's undoubtedly going to be the biggest female artist of all time when all's said and done.

One thing I will give Sc*tt is that it was smart to get her to change the title from Enchanted to Speak Now. He was right that it was more important to have a bold title that represented something beyond what people thought of her (a young girl writing about fairytales), especially since it was self-written.

It’s crazy to think of how drastically the world has changed since she started her career. Social media spread like wildfire, streaming exploded, digital sales came and went - but Taylor Swift is still here

Fearless is very much a victim of her immature vocal tone at the time and major changes to her image beginning with the Red era. It went from an album that I really didn’t listen to regularly in any capacity to my #4 favorite in her discography with the rerecording, which I feel not only updated her vocals, but also recontextualized Fearless as a powerful body of work that’s worthy of being sandwiched between Folklore/Evermore and Red TV. I mean, despite her winning three times - and the possibility of that happening for another artist eventually - AOTY isn’t a cheap award that just any album can win, and Fearless TV shows that Fearless in all its forms and as a broad concept still stands strong even within Taylor’s storied, accomplished discography.

Girl I Did Something Awful would have flopped harder than ready for **** and end career. The GP was NOT here for that fake persona. It’s also a terrible song despite what the delusional puta Stans say so it would have actually been detrimental to her career. Thank god she didn’t release that abomination. No harmony no Melody would have also flopped to oblivion I’m glad it got ignored as it should.

you spilled with Cruel Summer and exile tho

Although I'm eagerly awaiting the next TV announcement, I hope she's well and taking a break! She's been working her ass for so many years now. I mean, she went straight from Rep Tour into Lover era, then a year later came Folklore/Evermore, then we got Fearless TV & Red TV in the same year. :weeps: We've been spoiled, I hope she's enjoying some down time!

Plus, I'd rather wait a little longer for TV's if it means getting them even more perfect. Better to take time with them than rush them out half-baked.
