But I don’t like Getaway Car!

I can tolerate Clean doing well tbh. It’s probably my #2 on the album after AYHTDWS, so like, I’m happy it’s smashing a tiny bit. Still one of her very best songs.

Sweetie, your username is literally a poor man's Getaway Car

I hope this doesn't start yet another Loser vs. rep discourse but facts had to be said

State of Grace > the 1 > Fearless > Tim McGraw > willow > Mine > Ready For It > Welcome to New York > I Forgot That You Existed

The first 3 are really in a league of their own.

The middle three are great songs, but they don’t really have the same PUNCH as opening tracks. Tim McGraw mostly works as an opener due to the nostalgia of it being her debut single. willow was the right choice for an opener, but it’s a pretty lowkey and unassuming first track. And I think maybe Mine and Sparks Fly could’ve changed place in the sequencing.

RFI and W2NY aren’t really great songs, but they work very well as opening tracks. They very much set the tone and introduce overarching themes for their albums.

No idea what she was thinking with IFTYE, but the entire sequencing of Lover has always felt off to me. Cruel Summer or YNTCD would’ve worked best as opening tracks I think, and even The Man or London Boy would’ve been improvements over IFTYE.

Very interesting how 7/9 are either about falling / being in love or looking back on a previous love in a wistful and positive manner, while the two worst songs here are the ones that are not. Also makes it even weirder that her album called Lover doesn’t start with a love song.

Forever resentful that this, the original and superior version of Blinding Lights, wasn't the song to make it to 90 weeks on the Hot 100 and didn't become the biggest hit of all time :gaycat6:

Best lyrics on Folklore/Evermore?

It doesn’t have a clear, relatable narrative. It took me a long time to really -get it- and even Taylor admitted she didn’t have one specific storyline in mind while writing the song, for once in her career she just wrote.

I truly believe that with each TV release that we are going to get more vault tracks than the last TV release had

"State of Grace (Taylor's Version)" >> "...Ready for It?" > "the 1" >>> "State of Grace" > "Fearless (Taylor's Version)" = "willow" >>>> "Welcome to New York" = "Fearless" >> "Tim McGraw" >>>>> "Mine" >>>>>>> "I Forgot That You Existed"

I literally forgot "I Forgot That You Existed" until I looked through the albums' track listings to make sure I had them all. Truly the worst song on Lover but every once in a while I feel something from it :spin:

Track 2-13 on Lover would’ve made an excellent  pop album. Too bad the rest really drags it down.

Lover as a 13 track album… a serve:

1. Cruel Summer

2. Lover

3. I Think He Knows

4. Miss Americana

5. The Archer

6. Paper Rings

7. Cornelia Street

8. Death By A Thousand Cuts

9. Soon You’ll Get Better

10. False God

11. Afterglow

12. It’s Nice To Have a Friend

13. Daylight

And then target deluxe:

14. I Forgot that you existed

15. London boy

16. You need to calm down

In that case she would save mixtape for last and do a massive boxed set with all of the leaked demos from back in the day.

I think Speak Now will have some interesting vault songs because there are definitely songs that she cut from the album when she changed the concept from Enchanted to Speak Now. Like, she definitely cut a few songs with fairytale type imagery. We know there’s a song from the writing sessions called “Castles Crumbling,” for example.
