I just now realized both consist of the color purple? Speak Now definitely needs to have a purple/violet variant(s). I think a baby blue variant would slap for 1989. Then of course we'll get ugly red variants from target even though Harry released a yellow variant though them. But for some reason Taylor always let's them pressed red.
Cleanromantic Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 I know it's a dire situation once I start doing rankings no one asked for (or is gonna read ). I already did a red carpet looks ranking and a tour outfits ranking on oldtrl, so here's an era aesthetic ranking Spoiler 9- Fearless: Pros: I love that she was aware that she should adapt a new aesthetic to fit with her second era and emerging image as a "big sister" figure. It was smart that she went for a preppy, Blair Waldorf inspired, sophisticated aesthetic. I like that she changed it up with the sequin dresses for her red carpet and performance outfits. She looked age appropriate and she kept her girl next door earthiness. I also like Cons: The looks where very basic and did not fit her world domination. The sequin dresses also looked cheap and dated. Spoiler 8- Debut Era: Pros: I love that even as a 16-year-old, Taylor knew the importance of developing a memorable and trademark look, and she did it frugally and smartly. She stuck with sundresses, colourful cowboy boots and natural ringlets. It was uniquely hers but easily replicable from her teen fans. Cons: There wasn't really much variety in this aesthetic, and she was on a budget and it shows. Those red carpet dresses designed by Scott Borchetta's wife (cause Taylor couldn't afford a stylist at the time) are all atrociously dreadful Spoiler 7- Speak Now: Pros: This was a big leap aesthetic wise for her. She went for a a quaint, unassuming, 1930s/40s light academia look, and it really fit with the rustic, homespun, storybook feel of the whole Speak Now album and tour. And I think the things she wore are still wearable today, I love all the Duffle coats, saddle bags, Oxford heels, and beanies. Also, this is my favourite curly haired Taylor era. Cons: A lot of the outfits looked very dawdy and drab, and I hate that fake pinned up bob she regularly supported. Spoiler 6/5- Folkmore: Pros: I love the cottage core outfits and o thought they fit the story telling of both albums really well. Cons: That hair . I like that she kept it natural but sometimes in her many hostage videos she looked like she just rolled out of bed. Also, we didn't really get to see her out and about because of the pandemic. Spoiler 4- Lover: Pros: I love that she went for a kitschy, quirky 80s inspired aesthetic. I never expected her to do kitsch, and I just love the way she did it. She kept it wearable and grounded instead of going all in with the weirdness. Cons: Her hair looked the worst since summer 2013 (if you know you know ). There was also some failed attempt at incorporating outfits inspired by one of her worst songs, The Ogre, and it resulted in some confusing choices. And of course, Joseph Cassell utterly failed at his job to adapt her street style to the red carpet #firejosephcassell part 1. Spoiler 3- Reputation: Pros: I love the grungy, edgy, and dark outfits. She was ready for battle. I like all the frayed hemlines, combat boots, urban bomber jackets, oversized coats, camo jackets... And I also love that she adapted all of that to her girl next door style instead of changing her personal style. I also think this was the first era she was confident and comfortable in her own skin, she was practically glowing. And her hair looked the healthiest since 2011. Cons: Some of the looks are very 2017/2018, and we didn't see much of her on the streets. Also, Joseph Cassell completely failed to adapt the era's aesthetic to the red carpet #firejosephcassell part 2. (She made like 3 red carpet appearances and the only one he nailed was the golden globes with Idris Elba) Spoiler This is one of my favourite things she's ever worn: 2- 1989: Pros: sleek, colorful, feminine, polished, pristine, and timeless. Literally anything she wore on the streets is still wearable today. I love the bob and the side swept bangs. I also loved when she went Anna Wintour with it towards the end. Cons: Her hair was very sculptured with hair spray in a lot of the looks, which made it look so dead and lifeless. I loved it more when she let it freely cascade like she did in that iHeartRadio rehearsal. Of course, Joseph Cassell was a failure as always, and put her in some frumpy, ill-fitting dresses that made her look cheap. Spoiler 1- Red: Pros: It has to be Red. I'm personally obsessed with 1950s and 1960s fashion, and to have Taylor pull off basically every trend from those two eras was such a pleasure to witness. And of course, her iconic bangs and straight hair were born with red. Spoiler Spoiler I can't believe I just spent an hour doing that Spoiler Stay tuned for my ranking of her best magazine covers/ photo shoots.

I already did a red carpet looks ranking and a tour outfits ranking on oldtrl, so here's an era aesthetic ranking Reveal hidden contents 9- Fearless: Pros: I love that she was aware that she should adapt a new aesthetic to fit with her second era and emerging image as a "big sister" figure. Reveal hidden contents 8- Debut Era: Pros: I love that even as a 16-year-old, Taylor knew the importance of developing a memorable and trademark look, and she did it frugally and smartly. She stuck with sundresses, colourful cowboy boots and natural ringlets. It was uniquely hers but easily replicable from her teen fans. Cons: There wasn't really much variety in this aesthetic, and she was on a budget and it shows. Those red carpet dresses designed by Scott Borchetta's wife (cause Taylor couldn't afford a stylist at the time) are all atrociously dreadful Reveal hidden contents 7- Speak Now: Pros: This was a big leap aesthetic wise for her. Reveal hidden contents 6/5- Folkmore: Pros: I love the cottage core outfits and o thought they fit the story telling of both albums really well. Cons: That hair . I like that she kept it natural but sometimes in her many hostage videos she looked like she just rolled out of bed. Also, we didn't really get to see her out and about because of the pandemic. Reveal hidden contents 4- Lover: Pros: I love that she went for a kitschy, quirky 80s inspired aesthetic. Reveal hidden contents 3- Reputation: Pros: I love the grungy, edgy, and dark outfits. (She made like 3 red carpet appearances and the only one he nailed was the golden globes with Idris Elba) Reveal hidden contents This is one of my favourite things she's ever worn: 2- 1989: Pros: sleek, colorful, feminine, polished, pristine, and timeless. Reveal hidden contents 1- Red: Pros: It has to be Red. I'm personally obsessed with 1950s and 1960s fashion, and to have Taylor pull off basically every trend from those two eras was such a pleasure to witness. And of course, her iconic bangs and straight hair were born with red.
