Actually while we're on the subject, I remember being GAGGED by "darkest night" or whatever we were calling it when Justin Vernon started playing snippets from How Long Do You Think It's Gonna Last?  I vividly remember the news slowly spreading through the fanbase on Twitter that *gasp* Taylor was gonna be featured prominently on the BRM album with what turned out to be the far superior version of Long Story Short (the irony ddd). The way I was suddenly desperate for a full Taylor/JV collab album, and now they're probably not even speaking  Oh someone needs to tell him to call her up  

 

Renegade falls in this weird space where I know it's highly beloved and it definitely got its flowers, but we're just not streaming and discussing it as we should be. I heard the first 30 seconds of this and knew my life would never be the same. Hobo when I catch you

She's perfectly decent as a director, just because you don't like her style doesn't mean it's bad 

 

Clips like ATW10, Karma or Fortnight alone are pretty great clips, and they're far from her only good ones.

She has made some objectively great MVs and some bad ones.

cardigan and Willow were great, fortnight is probably her best one yet, and Anti Hero was also good because she was trying to channel the single-camera sitcom/ 30 Rock style and she succeeded at it. All Too Well was nothing special but it served its purpose. 

Karma was mostly good, but that Moana inspired scene was so out of place, but the rest of the MV and the transition flow well together thematically and visually. 

Bejeweled is ok. Lavender Haze has some gorgeous shots but the execution was not perfect, and The Man was ok, nothing special and looked like a pretty average Katy Perry MV. 

What she should do is release the movie under a fake pseudonym, or even let a known male director be credited in her place, because the movie will be torn to shreds because of her name alone, same with what happened with ttpd. 

I remember when Better Man was released under two fake songwriters names' during the reputation/ post 1989 backlash and it was praised & acclaimed then critics were shocked when it was revealed she's the one who wrote it, acting like she's not the one who wrote Love Story, Enchanted, All Too Well, Blanc Space, Clean...

Honestly, I hope she does that more. Get a different male singer/ a new "ingenue" female singer to sing songs she's written and produced and give them full credit just to expose the biasedness of critics.
