Robin is sooo good. When will society wake up

The melodies are gorgeous, especially the "strings - tied - to - levers - slowed - down - clocks - tethered" section.

But within the context of the album, it becomes literally tooooo powerful. "You look ridiculous and you have no idea / Buried down deep and out of your reach, the secret / We all vowed to keep it from you, in sweetness" at the end of an ablum all about Her loss of innocence and dignity - having Your youth stolen from You by a partner, degrading Yourself for fame, getting humiliated in the pursuit of real love :weeps: The concept of Her loving and protecting Her friend's kid, while She's being sh*t-talked under the table, talking rings and talking cradles :weeps: "Youve got a favourite spot on the swing set / You have no room in your dreams for regrets" alluding to the vain hopefulness She once had: "Ain't no way I'm gonna screw up now that I know what's at stake here / At the park where we used to sit on children's swings / Wearing imaginary rings" :weeps:

Finally some love for Robin :clap3:

Let's hyperfixate on the undisputed queer trinity of The Anthology: I Hate It Here - I Look In People's Windows - Peter

But first, a moment for Down Bad

Did you really beam me up?
In a cloud of sparkling dust
Just to do experiments on

She was ******* insane for this :weeps: Oh the pain of being someone's queer experimentation

Did you take all my old clothes?
Just to leave me here naked and alone
In a field in my same old town
That somehow seems so hollow now
They'll say I'm nuts if I talk about the existence of you

AAAAAA :dancehall2: Karlie taking Her old clothes... And "they'll say I'm nuts if I talk about the existence of you"... Must we spell it out...

I'll build you a fort on some planet

Where they can all understand it

How dare you think it's romantic

Leaving me safe and stranded

LIKE???? :dancehall2: The pining for a planet where people are less ignorant... The allusions to 1989 error......

Like I lost my twin

:weeps: I don't think anything needs to be said here.

And needless to say the whole ablum is fraught with queer religious tension... "I just learned these people try and save you / 'Cause they hate you"... "What if I roll the stone away / Theyre gonna crucify me anyway / What if the way you hold me / Is actually what's holy"... "I got cursed like Eve got bitten"

So then, I Hate It Here:

All you'll ever be is
My eternal consolation prize

Ummmm :dancehall2:

You see I was a debutant in another life

But now I seem to be scared to go outside

The fact that debutantes literally come out :dancehall2:

I hate it here so I will go to
Lunar valleys in my mind
When they found a better planet
Only the gentle survived
I dreamed about it in the dark
The night I felt like I might die

More allusions to a better planet, for "gentle"/enlightened people :weeps: Kind of also harkens back to "I wanna transport you / To somewhere the culture's clever / Confess my truth"

I'll save all my romanticism for my inner life

:dancehall2: :dancehall2: :dancehall2:

I Look In People's Windows:

I look in people's windows
Transfixed by rose golden glows
They have their friends over to drink nice wine

The reference to golden :cries: The allusion to "rosé flowing with your chosen family" :cries: The connection to "I peered through a window / A deep portal / Time travel / All the love we unraveled / And the life I gave away / 'Cause he was sunshine I was midnight rain" :cries:

Peter:

Forgive me Peter
My lost fearless leader
In closets like cedar
Preserved from when we were just kids
Is it something I did
The goddess of timing
Once found us beguiling
She said she was trying
Peter was she lying

My ribs get the feeling she did

There isnt a plausible non-queer reading of this, like please

Are you still a mind reader?
A natural scene stealer
I've heard great things Peter
But life was always easier on you
Than it was on me

Aaa it's giving "Everybody wants you / Everybody wonders what it would be like to love you" it's giving "What must it be like to grow up so beautiful"

And I won't confess that I waited
But I let the lamp burn
As the men masqueraded
I hoped you'd return

??????

But the woman

Who sat by the window

Has turned out the light

:dancehall2:

I look in people's windows, transfixed by rose golden glows :dancehall2:

I dreamed about it in the dark the night I felt like I might die :dancehall2:

Me wanting to like @Great Usernamepost worshipping ttpd as it deserves to be worshipped, then seeing that all their praise leads up to delusional gaylorisms :grump:

Gaylorism needed to die yesterday, it's a seriously toxic mindset and no serious Swiftie should ever entertain it. There's ZERO proof whatsoever that Taylor is queer in any way and even if she was, trying to overanalyze her life to "force" her to come out is seriously messed up.

As an actual queer person myself i had close ones who tried to force me to come out to the world before i was ready and i can tell you it did serious damage to my mental health. And in the case of Taylor it's even worse because people want to impose a sexuality on her that she doesn't even have. The fact that Gaylorism was published in the NEW YORK TIMES of all places really showed how insane and out of hand the whole thing has gotten, people really need to stop. You are NOT helping queer people in any way by doing all of that :biblio:

Fact check: analysing Lord's music, noting connections and themes between texts, speculating on who She's singing about regardless of gender based on these texts, on a music and celebrity forum is not seriously toxic, isnt forcing anyone to come out, and isn't otherwise harming the Lord or any other queer person x

Sure, whatever helps you sleep at night

If you seriously believe having those insane conspiracy theories getting so big that it ends up in the NYT isn't doing harm, then i guess there's nothing that can be done to make you see reason. Taylor was clearly disturbed by this and you know it, otherwise her publicist wouldn't have talked about it.

I agree with you. It's gotten really crazy. However, finding sapphic themes/meanings in her music and interpreting it in your way to personally relate to it is still harmless imo. I miss when gaylors only did that instead of being a delusional subcult stanning a completely different person that they made up in their empty heads.

I hope she recorded Crazier (Taylor's version) for debut TV. One of her absolute best songs.
