Hunter_13 Posted February 6 Posted February 6 Anyway moving on from that ugly! Illicit Affairs getting her flowers I'm so happy. 2

Even Lana was lobbying and she never did that before Campaigning is not lobbying. It's different. This year Taylor really didn't campaign for It. I mean not directly, then of course a movie with songs from a record doing 200M at the box office is not bad promotion . And you can see how surprised She was to win. I have no problem to Say She fakes surprise when She wins a VMA She attends only cause She knows She's gonna win I think 1989 win was definitely the result of a lot of behind of the scenes campaigns, private events and a lot of lobbying (label makes the lobbying btw, not the artists). This year Taylor was just so big and unescapable It was maybe her easier win ever in terms of votes. Edited February 6 by vale9001
GoatGly Posted February 6 Posted February 6 The Swiftologist being Swiftie famous takes me out. Him and Ally Sheehan are the only ones I occasionally watch videos from but omg his takes are awful and he’s basically an OTH at this point. 1

Michael196 Posted February 6 Posted February 6 Reminder that the only "direct" campaign she did was the POTY interview and releasing YLM, other than that, this is the second time this century and first since 2001 that the AOTY winner didn't even perform during the ceremony... also, she didn't even promote the album itself other than the first week and never performed any song outside the tour. 1

Both mainstream artists with big labels and a lot of Money behind them too, especially Sza Is an artist with big investiments on her. This could make sense if you were rooting for some indipendent artist outside of the industry machine.
Cleanromantic Posted February 6 Posted February 6 The way I'm always on the right side of history , I've been dragging the Swiftologist's fugly ass for so long. 1

She clearly was shocked Midnights won AOTY, I’ve been a Taylor fan long enough to know what her genuine surprise face is versus her PR one. I think it’s very possible she only expected / wanted to win for BPVA. Oh well Midnights deserved it anyways. 1
Cleanromantic Posted February 6 Posted February 6 She didn't do anything for Midnights actually, to say she was lobbying is so delusional considering what the other Nominees were doing .

I don't say She didn't want It cause the win broke a record and She was as happy as surprised but maybe cause she already knows TS11 is designed to be a commercial success and a critics darling She was already in the 2025 cerimony with her mind 1

Yeah, I agree! I think Midnights was just an obvious winner to the voting body and HONESTLY I think she was probably gonna put in a real grammy AOTY bid next year for TTPD but I think those plans are gonna have to be scrapped.
Hunter_13 Posted February 6 Posted February 6 I'll say she probably released the movie for rent and used POTY as her campaign to remind voters of her dominant year.

The point of the discussion is if someone makes an hard "behind the scenes" work to win. Honestly i don't think it's the case even for that. She didn't campaign or was so disperate to win with this and same from her label. This is why I said this was her easier win, just like Adele with 21 or MJ with thriller was a year too big to ignore for the voters. Edited February 6 by vale9001 1
Mandalore Posted February 6 Posted February 6 She didn't even campaign for this, which makes it funny tbh Honestly the new album is all I've been thinking about, Grammys were fun for like 2 hours max

Thorn Posted February 6 Posted February 6 I know it's crazy to talk about this now, but she has always had the Grammys very much in mind when organizing her schedule. With this historic AOTY win, how slim are the options for TTPD next year, which seems to have been made for critical acclaim? She knew that with an April release she would be back to being nominated for everything at the next Grammys.

MidnightsAtPeace Posted February 6 Posted February 6 another day of twitter stans crying over taylor's aoty win while taylor's grammy is sitting gracefully somewhere in her house
