TaylorNation Posted February 4 Posted February 4 (edited) not me in my reputation era I understand what you’re all saying, but to me winning AOTY three times does not NOT make her a Grammy darling. yes it’s true those albums were huge and deserved to win, but so did BEYONCÉ and Renaissance, and for example After Hours didn’t even get a nomination. so yeah she hasn’t had a lot of luck in general field categories but she is favorited a lot when other artists aren’t imo Edited February 4 by TaylorNation 1
By the Water Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Taylor has ONE win in pop categories. Her lack of ROTY/SOTY isn't the only reason she isn't a Grammys darling 1
40_L3VE Posted February 4 Posted February 4 25 minutes ago, PoisonedIvy said: Ok, of the last 25 years Taylor has won 12% of the AOTY Grammys awarded. Adele has won 8% of them. And 20 other unique individuals/musical acts have won, so 80%. Black women, while having deserved a fairer share of the pie (Janelle Monae’s the ArchAndroid ) are statistically more likely to lose to any other individual artist than they are to “lose to Taylor Swift” by a rate of roughly 4:1, when extrapolating the last 25 years of data. All of this to say — it’s not “Taylor VS black women,” it’s “black women/POC are not validated by their peers/the general populace at the same rate as white people.” The issue is deeply rooted in the ethnic & cultural history of the US and cannot be attributed to some “mascot” that represents the shortcomings of a historically white system. Mind you, I really just think we should stop -wanting- validation from an institution that has to nearly be forced into giving it. Minority artists are so talented, creative, and forward thinking and I wish we could uplift them without feeling like they need to be recognized by an institution started by crusty old white men back when segregation was still the norm. But this is a complex topic and I understand all viewpoints surrounding it The Scammys gon Scammy and we all know they ain't worth sh*t, but as long as artists so obviously care about and seek validation from them, their fans will too. If you don't think that the 4:0 stat will be all over social media and even certain mainstream publications, I don't know what to tell you. All I said was that I doubt Taylor wants to be the face of the historic mistreatment of Black Women by the Grammys, but if she wins tonight, she will literally be the face on all of the articles highlighting how difficult it is for Black Women to get recognized for the work. It's not fair, but it comes with the territory.

And they already wrote It in 2016 for one turned to be a very deserved win and a pop Classic while that Kendrick Lamar turned to be his less streamed and remembered album to date. People on Twitter somehow blamed Taylor for Adele winning against Beyoncé the year later so Who cares? Do you really think Swifties cares about buzzfeed titles?. I mean all the mainstream magazines are writing midnights Is favourite to win. Why are you acting like It would be a Surprise or like if Lover would have won against Billie in 2020. It's definitely a big album, It's acclaimed and and Taylor had a never seen this century gigantic year. If someone else wins Swifties are kind ok with It cause we already won, but it's not like we're gonna say She stole anything. Whatever some intern writes on vulture. She's so big she's over every title can try to underestimate her influencer or Power. It's not 2016 anymore. Edited February 4 by vale9001 3

No I definitely believe and know we’ll see that insinuation, but I also have been a fan of Taylor long enough to know that those kinds of arguments fall apart easily. Even if it’s a trending topic on twitter for a week straight, it will die out and no one will care by the Super Bowl, one week later. Not to mention none of it would translate into the real world whatsoever. That kind of discourse typically lives online only.
By the Water Posted February 4 Posted February 4 If Taylor was scared of winning AOTY she wouldn't attend lol
Michael196 Posted February 4 Posted February 4 We're almost halfway throught next year's elgibility period and nothing has dominated on the level of CS since then, and it's not looking to slow down, everything has came and went, so they better submit the Eras version, so she could get SOTY/ROTY/BPSVP noms...

By the Water Posted February 4 Posted February 4 People are gonna hate Taylor regardless of whether she wins or not. Just look at that snub thread. I can't believe some of you let the OTH get inside your head so much that you want Taylor to lose an award 8
Mandalore Posted February 4 Posted February 4 (edited) At this point everyone and everything is trying to make her the face of everything. Football, politics, conspiracies, A.I regulations so what's another one gonna do? Yes Midnights AOTY! Yes Taysweep! Embrace the imperial phase of Swiftholicism and stop acting like pick-me bi*ches. Cleanromantic Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Taylor will 100% be blamed for black female artists not winning and anyone believing otherwise is naïve . The hate Taylor gets is always focused on painting her as morally corrupt (a very tried and true sexist way to attack successful women): She's a **** She's a nazi and a white supremacist She's single handedly responsible for global warming ... What ever the angle, people are going to go overboard to bring her down. 1

Taylor somehow ended up receiving more backlash than Adele after she won over Lemonade
PoisonedIvy Posted February 4 Posted February 4 “Taylor will be blamed for black people not winning” is a silly statement though. There’s probably people who blame her for every cultural crisis you can think of. Why are we giving credence to outlandish claims from random people on the internet? I wouldn’t panic and say “Taylor will definitely be blamed for the COVID-19 pandemic!!” just because I’m afraid of a few tweets that might assert that claim. Social discourse online is basically just an insane asylum. In the real world, Taylor will not be blamed for black women not winning Grammys. It won’t translate into any negative blowback for her career whatsoever and we will have moved on to her Eras Tour resuming + her potential Super Bowl appearance as a collective public and that will be the end of that

I've gone through this circus before, and it's always the same bs.
Dear Reader Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Why are Demi and Miley stans on this forum always so petty against Taylor? Is it jealousy?

Hunter_13 Posted February 4 Posted February 4 It's really a shame I can't even be excited or want my fave to win an award. Like...the way I'm seeing her own stans attacking her in discords and twitter and wanting her to lose just so some stans of other artists don't get their feelings hurt? You know damn well these other stans wouldn't dare say their fave shouldn't win and *insert artist* should win instead. Like I'm usually very happy and optimistic going into grammys day cause this is like my superbowl. But now all I just feel all blah about today. Anyway, rant over. I hope she can win a couple. 3

It would not be eligible for SOTY.
Klein Posted February 4 Posted February 4 It's the way her own fans are scared of her winning AOTY because she would be getting backlash on the internet. Like, she is either getting backlash for winning AOTY, or getting dragged for losing it. Pick your poison, but I sure prefer she wins for Midnights that I find really great and completely deserving of the title. 1
