Holiest Dreams Posted January 24 Posted January 24 RIP to the side bangs, I guess. A loss. Don’t get me wrong though, I’ve always been a Bangs-Swift truther but they need to be styled correctly (unlike last night. kii) 2
Cleanromantic Posted January 24 Posted January 24 I don't know what sorcery she used, but she managed to put the essence of winter in Evermore. I feel literally cold listing to it, even when it's warm outside. I think the instrumentals, her use of her lower register and falsetto, and the denseness of her songwriting are all a perfect match. She distilled winter and put it in an album . 1

She's had them for 12 years and when people think Taylor they think bangs and red lips. Sure, I like it when she changes it up a bit like when she went to the Renaissance opening and the side swept style of the 1989 era, but I think it's safe to say she's never getting rid of them. 1

And since we dated around the time she released ME! and YNTCD, let me tell you I didn't fight him on that matter. 2

If they didn't make it their entire personality though... A distinction has to be made between people who like Reputation and the true Reputationators. I, for instance, love 6 songs on Reputation and have been known to listen to another 5 more of my own volition from time to time, but I'd still shove Reputation down at the bottom of her discography in a ranking without a second thought. The issue with these people isn't that they love the music, its that they fundamentally misunderstand that the 'edgy' character she leaned into was a panic-driven response to the backlash that is a million miles away from basically everything Taylor actually is and actually stands for (I guess it stands to reason that a lot of these Reputationators are also Gaylors ), and that, while it is perfectly respectable to enjoy the art, to claim that it's some of Taylor's best is a gross violation and disservice to her talents and to who she fundamentally is as an artist and a person. Reputation-Persona Taylor was... insecure (I'd say stupid but I don't feel right calling any version of Taylor stupid) enough to portray herself as the villain in a situation where she was unambiguously the victim, and I know that any other iteration of Taylor would be far more strategic, and hence made very different choices about the marketing and rollout of the album and the era. I'd have no problem dating someone who liked several songs from Reputation, but a Reputationator... I should start screening for them in my convo's on dating apps Edited January 24 by wastedpotential 2
idkwiam Posted January 24 Posted January 24 The essays for REPUTATION. That's how we know that's an ICONIC era.
