People acting like she's obligated to laugh at the joke is very weird behaviour...

And somehow tying that to privilege... the gymnastics :deadbanana4:

Edit: do y'all remember that tweet clowning on Swifties saying "a woman can only chuckle"... apparently she can't not chuckle either!

Cruel Summer is coming for SOTD :heart2:

I didn't see anything wrong with the guy's joke on that awards show but she (and everyone else in that audience) was probably already so fed up with him that she just :stare:'d

The way Cruel Summer has become one of her signature hits, I’d say even top five. :deadbanana2:

None of us were predicting this is 2019 when she ignored it. :deadbanana2:

It just needs a music video :chick3: Taylor, please!

The way that would literally be the greatest thing in her discography. I've always considered folklore her own albeit inferior C&L. Seven could literally be a Sufjan song. :heart2: And I've always wondered how exile would sound like with Sufjan on it instead (luv Bon Iver though). Bryce Dessner should really link them together and lock them up in a studio with Aaron.

idk if Sufjan likes her though

I hope for her next album to be an arts over charts project (though where she is right now means that it would probably smash anyway). She doesn’t  need to silence the haters, but she might as well when she has the talent and could do with a sonic refresher. Imagine a folklore moment or better coming next for her.

Folklore and Evermore were the arts over charts albums.. now that shes the biggest shes ever been especially worldwide she needs to go all out for a pop smash era like 1989 :jonny5:  would be such a wasted opportunity if she doesnt do that and tbh she seems hungry for success :clap3:

The album after that could be the arts over charts album, hopefully with some rock influences :coffee2:

But Midnights is already a pop smash era like 1989 though.

I did a little bit of digging to compare Midnights and 1989 at the same point (after a bit over a year)

(1989 - Midnights)

WW - 9M - 14M

US - 5.6M - 6.5M

The fact Midnights is having a much better trajectory that 1989 so far is incredible. :clap3:

if you’re in the New York area there’s a really cute Taylor costume exhibit at the Museum of Arts and Design!

it’s not that big but you get to see a few iconic costumes up close

They're not topping Nothing New so we'd just end up with mid snoozes, unless Phoebe gives her another I Know The End'd classic

Pheobe's voice is a snooze. She can't emote to save her life and Nothing New would've been better without her. Ariana and Justin are two other singers who can't emote, but at least Ariana's music is fun and her tone is pretty. Pheobe has no redeeming qualities to her tone .

I like it but it could've been a 10/10 if it was solo.

Not being on streaming really held 1989 back.
According to HDD:

November 2018 - 21.8M

According to CM:

October 2017 - 15.9M

and of course now it’s at 33M+ according to CM

I think your '1989' numbers are off, cause it had sold 7.5M SPS units by the end of 2015 in the US alone (4.4M in 2014, 3.1M in 2015).

Yeah my bad. I used the Top Album Sales numbers for the US which doesn't take into account SEA and TEA.

It makes me wonder if the WW numbers are also pure sales only though. But didn't 1989 only reached 10M WW in 2017? I remember that was the alleged reason for allowing her catalogue back on Spotify back in the day? :toofunny2:

Also lets not forget that 1989 singles were MUCH MUCH bigger and are already surpassing Midnights singles on streaming :coffee2:
And YES i know Anti-Hero spent more weeks in the top 10 than BS for example but lets be real :rip: Streaming makes every single stay top 10 longer these days, feels like the weeks in top 10 record gets broken every year or so at this point :deadbanana4:

Midnights was a big era, but 1989 was overall much bigger.. she is just at her peak overall now which yes Midnights is part of the reason but overall the biggest factor is the biggest tour of all time and the rerecordings

If she plays her cards right the next album/era could be her biggest ever tho especially worldwide
