Taylor fanboy Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 NOT three lead singles potentially being about him! Indeed:

Holiest Dreams Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 10 hours ago, Cruel Summer said: If she does a rock sound, I’m going to need some influences from Red, from The National, etc, but I would want the primary sound of the album to be Fleetwood Mac inspired. There’s an element of pure magic with their best work that would fit her perfectly - sounds like Gypsy, Storms, Sara, Dreams, Rhiannon. Basically a Stevie Nicks era if we’re being honest, but Lindsey Buckingham’s style would be more than welcome. Taylor would sound perfect on a song like Trouble with that little instrumental hook in the chorus, I think she’d sound great on Go Your Own Way, and plenty more. Honestly, after the Midnights promo started, that’s what I assumed it was going to sound like based on the imagery. On a completely separate list of sounds, my “this will never happen” list, I would love her to explore sounds like Björk’s Vespertine. She’d sound great next to that kind of intricate, delicate wintery production and I need more of that in my life. She can call it Snowbore for the haters! Oh this spill. We need her Gypsy on TS11. The critical and commercial smash that would be It would also be a very natural progression from Midnights, seeing as that song has that 80s flare but it’s far from being a generic 80s synthpop song. 1
Holiest Dreams Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 Also, yeah, I always think about Florence when we talk about Taylor doing a ‘rock’ album. Here is a moodboard I have made up in my head of what sounds (from artists as a whole, to specific songs and albums) that I’d love to hear from TS11 or another future album: Artists: - Fleetwood Mac - Florence + The Machine - U2 - Bruce Springsteen Songs: - Kiss Me/There She Goes by Sixpence Nonethericher - Linger/Dreams by The Cranberries - Iris by Goo Goo Dolls - Somebody Like Me/At The Holiday Party by St. Vincent - Fade Into You by Mazzy Star - Torn by Natalie Imbruglia - You’re So Vain by Carly Simon - Amelia by Joni Mitchell - Hard To Find by The National - Gypsy/Rhiannon/Silver Springs by Fleetwood Mac Albums: - Tapestry by Carole King - Rumours by Fleetwood Mac - Daddy’s Home by St. Vincent - Trouble Will Find Me by The National - Hejira by Joni Mitchell I really want to see what Taylor can do blending her pop-esque Swiftian melodic style with those sounds and compositional styles. A lot of these musicians have a very different melodic sense to her, and even when Taylor learned more alternative with folkmore she maintained her signature melodic sensibilities. I mean, evermore is basically Fearless in a The National wig (and that’s why it’s arguably her best work). Also, I’m sure I’m forgetting some songs/albums/artists that have popped into my head before, but I just made this list up from memory, so 4

Klein Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 (edited) Just saw that Cruel Summer is recovering massively after the Christmas season, has a very big lead over #2, and no hit inside the top 10 coming to threaten its position. It's been top 10 since mid-July. Looks like it's going to have monster longevity on radio. 1. Taylor Swift - "Cruel Summer" 73.61 (+2.04) 2. Doja Cat - "Paint the Town Red" 65.93 (+0.10) 3. Tate McRae - "greedy" 62.54 (+0.36) ** 4. Tyla - "Water" 62.17 (+0.05) 5. Jack Harlow - "Lovin on Me" 56.90 (+0.27) 6 (+1) Miley Cyrus - "Used to Be Young" 55.08 (+0.28) 7 (-1) SZA - "Snooze" 54.94 (-0.08) 8. Paul Russell - "Lil Boo Thang" 52.72 (+0.31) 9. Rema & Selena Gomez - "Calm Down" 52.46 (+0.50) 10. Usher, Summer Walker & 21 Savage - "Good Good" 47.70 (+0.61) Edited December 31, 2023 by Klein 1
Lemon Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 (edited) Also, what I can see and hear Taylor doing greatly is something in the vein of CMAT’s debut album - pop/alt-country brimmed with wit, dry humour and her usual emotional catchiness. Time to build on Lavender Haze in left turn. Edited December 31, 2023 by Lemon 2
Taylor fanboy Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 I don’t know what to stream first when the clock strikes 12AM, Sparks Fly …Ready for It? Lavender Haze or New Year’s Day. I hate her for giving me this dilemma.

foundwonderland Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 New Year’s Day is an absolute classic and a beautiful song about staying with someone even in the mundane and bad moments. I’ll be playing it all day 3
