After a quick check, I think that’s actually a Britney fan.

I mean, trolling/flamebait is allowed (to an extent) in Base, but not in an artist’s base thread. Literally against the rules and if I’m not mistaken, warnable.

Last time I say something because it’s honestly ridiculous, but:

This is the Taylor Swift fan base thread. Obviously someone who is not a Taylor fan coming here to post something disparaging towards her or her success is trolling, which is not allowed. If you feel such a strong need to post that, feel free to make a post in Base. I’m sure you will get opinions from many people, including Taylor fans.

Hope this helps.

I gave that user a serious answer but they’re not interested in any conversations that challenge their viewpoint. Black people are not a monolith first and foremost, but culturally there is a significant history behind the hypermasculinity of black and brown men in America that they aren’t willing to admit. Taylor is one of the most prominent symbols of feminine expression in the world right now so it’s not a mystery that her music would connect a little bit less with straight men of certain cultural backgrounds. This doesn’t diminish the scale of her impact or success, because this same handicap applies to every legend in history. It’s impossible to have equal prominence across all ranges of people. Even MJ, Madonna and The Beatles had their weaker markets.

I would love to see all of the videos of the social media teams asking the sporting teams what their favorite Beyonce song is....oh, wait.

Sis you’ve been given several responses that assume you’re approaching this topic in good faith, and you ignored them all. It’s quite clear you had no interest in discussing this topic in the first place.

I love her playful, teasing, coquettish persona on stage. She started doing it during the Red tour but her confidence and showmanship have grown so much over the years that it is so much more impactful now :jonnycat:. That said, the Man and YNTCD are such stains on the setlist, going from the excellence of cruel summer to those two turds is such a buzzkill :suburban:

Hey. As a black man I can tell you the answer to this is very simple. Straight black men feel emasculated by vulnerability of emotion, and an artist like Taylor Swift primarily write songs that are vulnerable. Black men get devalued by others when they appreciate anything in proximity to femininity. It’s a cultural problem that stems from retaliation against emasculatory practices that took place during the era of slavery. It’s a deep rooted problem within our people and for you to try to use black men’s apathy towards Taylor Swift’s music as some sort of “got ya” is really disappointing

She can be the biggest artist on the planet and not be liked by certain demographics. I grew up not knowing a single Beatles or Madonna song but that didn’t somehow revoke them or their historical relevance.

Yeah but they most likely not interested in Taylor at all.

Luckily, you are one of her fans keeping tabs on her, on people that dislike her, so you are interested and invested. Keep yourself busy in that manner and don’t forget to tune evermore on while doing so. :wave0:

Not everyone has to have an interest AT ALL in an artist for that artist to be the biggest in the world? Do you know how many black, latino, or Asian people probably could not give a single **** about the Beatles in the 60s? That doesn’t strip them of their title as the biggest band in music history

Travis wasn’t able to attend her party because he had to be in KC, but he celebrated with her on Sunday. Tree has already released this info, likely to try and dispel rumours.

Also, if there’s one thing Taylor’s gonna do, it’s use that yellow filter. :dies: At this point, it would feel wrong for her to not use it. :dies:
