I think Midnights is one of her most chaotic albums, `cause she was going through a tough time (since YLM was recorded in the same time with other tracks), she was going back and forth, putting her feelings for Joe into the songs, but not making them as explicit as possible and marking them as flashbacks in her career. The reason why YLM wasn't on the record is she didn't know at the time she approved the tracklist whether they will broke up for the last time, or some cure would come through in the last second. MAybe she was writing the album originally about Joe, but then decided that this album will be about not only about him and started writing songs about others (like WCS), but it was too out of place and she didn't know where to put it. Actually, If we think about how tough their relationship were during the time she recorded Midnights, Mastermind don't look like a good closer track, Dear Reader is much better. And then she put there Hits Different to close it. And THEN, when Joeover happened, she put out YLM, marked it as (From The Vault) song, which was a big signal that we didn't catch somehow that he was losing her already before she finished the album.
So the timeline is broken and hard to catch, that's why the album is chaotic and ends with YLM which is the song she wrote in the begining of Midnights sessions.

Dear Reader is a f***ing iconic album closer. Top5 on Midnights but y'all arent ready for that convo

No, that’s the question the label and the fans had when the song finished…

Did you get the memo about Midnights? Have you listened to Would've Could've Should've? Question...?

Sis the entire premise of Midnights is her ruminating over the things that still keep her up at night :deadbanana2:

In Labyrinth she literally says how much she hates how people expect her to quickly bounce back after something bad happens to her :deadbanana2:

Being a songwriter, doesn't mean dwelling on the past but rather using past experiences as a source of inspiration for creative expression. It doesn't necessarily mean that she is stuck in the past or unable to move forward; rather, it is a way for her to process and share her journey, both the highs and lows. In her personal life she's someone who is future-focused and goal-oriented. I truly think she's happy right now and hopeful about the future.

We moved on way too fast from this. I still get teary eyed when watching this, it’s one of her best speeches. I love hearing her talk

“Taylor doesn’t look back and moves on quickly” may be one of the funniest things I’ve read in a while :deadbanana4:

Like, do you know her? The endless positive jokes about her being “for the girls who have never moved on from anything in their life” for example. And personally I love that she looks back and reflects on recent and past situations. It broadens her discography a lot.

Though, with that said, I agree TS11 won’t be this gutteral breakup album that some fans expect. It also won’t be a Travis love album. I expect to be another Red with lots of self-reflection and varying topics and sounds, hopefully forming a cohesive storyline.

To be fair, there’s a viral meme (at least here in Philippines) calling her The Patron Saint of Productivity and Moving On, contrary to the jokes and narrative after ATW 10-minute version.

Yeah I don't know how disconnected from her entire discography you have to be to come to this conclusion that she doesn't look back.

Probably the most important advice she's giving in the entire speech. Only rivaled by the "effortlessness is a myth".

But dissociating her songwriting from the person she is in life is nonsense.
