He needs to go ASAP. We need a new producer.

I’m here for all the love Reputation seems to be getting in the lead up of the TV but the revisionist history of the era (just like for ARTPOP) gets a bit on my nerves tbh.

cupcake posts from disney adults like the one below are usually annoying but I thought this one serves as a good reminder. and it doesn’t even cover like one third of the mess

I wasn't around in 2017 so I can't say if everything here is 100% accurate, but even if it is, why can't or shouldn't newer fans appreciate the music for what it is? This whole post just reads like gatekeeping-- the "you weren't in the trenches defending Taylor from the wildest accusations imaginable so you don't deserve Reputation" energy is palpable.

And it's interesting how all this is framed from the fandom experience and not, like, Taylor herself. Taylor was definitely affected by the media trainwreck in 2017, but this comment isn't "Taylor didn't have fun during the Reputation era so we shouldn't pretend it was a happy badass album", it's "Swifties didn't have fun during the Reputation era". Which, again, gatekeeping.

The discourse around Taylor and everything she did or released was just toxic during rep era. It was a great era in the sense that she was in her idgaf about the media (she literally stopped doing press) but she was getting critisized, dragged for everything she did or said. The amount of viral hate tweets about the most mundane stuff :rip: The reviews of rep at the time, at least the negative ones wouldn't even address what was so "bad" about the album and just start to trash talk her and ignore the music. I believe some journalist even admitted years later that publications were given incentive to write bad stuff about her/her music because it became the popular thing to do. It was a weird time as a stan for sure but then again I wasn't that invested so I didn't care personally. I was just happy she seemed happy and making music again.

I also don't condone the dramatic and gate-keepy tone of that rant but it's just swifties being swifties what else is new?

Rep era was a nightmare to get through:redface:. Not only were her releases sparse, but she was getting dragged left right and center for everything she did leading up to the tour (it only got better once the tour was a month or two in). She was dragged for saying she had a nice year, dragged relentlessly for her September cover (which was actually a good cover), the tour was branded a flop before it even started... Not to mention 2016/2017 leading up to the album. It was hell :suburban:.

I recall totally different reactions back in may... the threads are still there

Why am I feeling the messy temptation to start one of those redundant “is it finally time to admit Taylor is the Queen of Pop?” threads just to watch everyone foam at the mouth :dies:

Dont worry base I won’t I won’t :gaycat6:

Honestly, I feel like we could act WAY messier as a fanbase with her breaking records every single day like it’s no one’s business :dies:

Yeah it’s always people I never see in this base starting those messy threads and we always get blamed for it. That’s why I’m like damn we might as well get to have SOME of the fun of actually inciting those arguments for once :deadbanana:

Well those flops can have their flip-flopping opinions.

I’ve been calling YLM a recycled snooze that She probably wrote and recorded in an hour so that She could hawk more CDs since day 1. I never thought Aaron had anything to do with it :heart2:

They only count plays of songs towards the album they're from when you are on the album's page, not if you listen to songs on a playlist (even if you have the entire album on that playlist). I noticed this when checking throughout the year, its so weird and annoying.

This is so odd. I thought mine looked pretty accurate. When did they implement this?

2. it’s time to go

3. this is me trying

lowkey screaming at the aggressiveness of this post :rip:

where am I gatekeeping or saying all those unhinged things in your post? or that people don’t “deserve” Reputation? like :skull:

i’m glad/happy/ecstatic/overjoyed that newer fans enjoy the music for what it is, and got into her at some point of their lives.

I simply posted that because (like I said originally) thought it was a good reminder that those were incredibly tough and shitty years, unlike how it’s being portrayed now. that’s literally it :rip: the same media that is praising and hyping her now were dragging her by the follicles of her neck nonstop for like three years, and it was a nightmare for us and especially for her.

but if comments about how other stans experienced the past before you got into the fandom trigger you then idk what to tell you

Don’t tempt me

the way she keeps on giving and taking in some way...

- dropping AOTG and keeping Need, despite both leaking together

- releasing Hits Different after over half a year of being a physical exclusive and giving YLM the same treatment

- now the same thing but with YLM and STF :dies:

hopefully we get another random drop ahead of the Tokyo shows, with Need, Crazier, TIWYCF(TV) and maybe STF, but the exclusivity period may prevent that...

other than the fact that she didn't tuck it to the full album, what sucks about this release is that it screwed my last.fm, over 200 scrobbles gone to waste :dies:

The last 3 years of Her career have truly been a trainwreck for last.fm :deadbanana2:

I went through and edited out all the (TV) [FTV] (10MV) tags for Red TV so I could have one clean album page for Sacred, but still need to do the rest (including every damn version of ME!dnights)
