This is why she is so great and produces amazing songs - she follows her inspirations to a T ( as any other equally great musician ). :clap3:

It’s kind of incredible that Cruel Summer feels like it’s become one of her signature songs. :jonny5:

And it is even better, because it contains main hallmarks of a Swiftian universe. :campfire:

And as it should. It should've been Lover's first single :clap3:

Was this in reference to my thread lol?

Yes you. Whatever you want to discuss, you can discuss here. No need to make a separate thread.

the NFL made a commercial advertising the Chiefs game in New York this upcoming Sunday. They’re using Welcome to New York, but Taylor only licenses out the TVs for usage right? Is this our first preview of WTNY TV? I don’t listen to the original at all (i hate it) so I can’t tell if this is any different I’ll be honest :ahh:

It literally sounds exactly the same to me, but I also don't like to it so I have no idea either. :skull:

Btw, it is literally flooding everywhere here in NYC so I'm wondering if that game will even happen.

It sounds like a TV yall. I know many of you have been abstaining from listening to the OG but I have been blasting 1989 recently and I can pick up on some nuances here and there and I can confirm that the song used in the commercial is DEFFINETLY not the original. It's totally the TV! It just sounds like it might be SUPER true to the original.

That’s Taylor’s Version because the last “New York” is definitely different than the original.

I like using acharts, but a very Taylor specific issue is that they count the rerecords as the same song so a songs chart run is mostly a huge white space in the middle with everything squeezed together on the left.

Shake It Off - 13 weeks

Anti-Hero - 10 weeks

Blank Space - 10 weeks

Bad Blood - 6 weeks

I Don't Wanna Live Forever - 6 weeks

We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together - 5 weeks

Look What You Made Me Do - 5 weeks

I Knew You Were Trouble - 3 weeks

You Belong With Me - 3 weeks

ME! - 2 weeks

It sorta seems like a quick lil single because it had decent at best global chart runs and fell out of the US top 10 after ~only~ 13 weeks and charted, like, 25 weeks. But that's only because of the Spotify debacle. I still get upset when I think about how hard the 1989 singles would've smashed on global charts, or how much longer they would've spent at #1/top 10 in the US with Spotify. And so on and so forth :rip:

She's making up for it now at least.

my gosh I forgot about the whole Spotify debacle :rip: Imagining the 1989 era being even bigger is hard to do but yeah, had the tracks been on there we'd be looking at possibly #1 peaks for Wildest Dreams and like even more weeks at #1 for SIO, BS and BB for sure :jonny:

If 1989 had been on Spotify since its peak, its streaming numbers would be insane. Despite not being on Spotify for years, it's done amazing numbers and has 2 tracks over 1b, with Style and Wildest dreams over 850M I think? Can only imagine how high they would be if they'd been available since their release.

This is actually beyond insane :rip:

And it was from a SWIFTIE, not even from Taylor herself :rip:

She's truly the biggest star in the world, there's no room for debate anymore.

Tell me about it. For YEARS i was frustrated with her Spotify numbers. They were good but not really explosive, especially compared to Ariana. And the fact that she missed 3 entire years worth of streams played a role in that.

Seeing her making up for it in 2022-2023 has been extremely satisfying to say the least. She should've always been the #1 pop girl on Spotify :clap3:

Hi bbs

I saw someone talk about a Taylor/Travis megathread in HQ and went through and saw about 10 threads regarding them on the first two pages.

Would creating a megathread be of interest to y’all? Or is keeping the threads separate more important for y’all?

Merge them and no new thread allowed.

Spotify truly ruined 1989 singles chart success. Album did good but she would've easily dominated European charts with 1989 if spotify mess wouldn't have happened.

This will make some of you mad but I'm seeing rise in number of trolls now hiding behind Taylor avi making extremely useless threads. Can they just stop? Is your life this boring?
