I'd say hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like you to have, but you have it.

I can't believe i used to be one of those people very into the Taylor/Joe Alwyn relationship and thought it was her happily ever after. The red flags were SO obvious, that man was clearly insecure/threatened by her fame. I should've seen it years ago :rip:

I never really cared for him, and I couldn’t quite put my finger on it until later on.

It was obvious he was happy when she was forced to stay home during the pandemic, or in summer 2021 when she flew all over the world with him while he worked on projects, but when it came time to show up for her, he never did. Red TV, Midnights, Eras….not a single outward showing of support. I’m not saying he needed to hang on her arm in every interview or appearance, but even his mom went to a Red TV promo appearance with her, but he wasn’t there. :rip:

I can’t find it now, but someone named all of the times he publicly supported her/showed up for her, and it was like a few Rep shows (which was still the early stages of their relationship) and some award show after parties (and maybe a few other things I’m forgetting). We can’t rewrite history and pretend he didn’t love her at some point or they wouldn’t have been together as long as they were, but it’s clear that eventually he became threatened by her having to turn “it” on and be THE Taylor Swift. It’s super telling that almost immediately, nearly all of her friends mass unfollowed him on social media.

THANK YOU. Exactly what i was thinking. Yeah, they obviously loved each other very much at the beginning but it's also obvious that he didn't want to deal with Taylor Swift The Celebrity. I understand being more of an introvert but the way he basically never supported her is kind of disturbing. She's your girlfriend, you should be there for her at least sometimes! I'm glad they broke up at this point, i think he was toxic for her toward the end.

Not to dissect a relationship that is not mine between people I don’t know and likely will never meet, but when you look at her music as evidence, there’s some indication that she started at some point to feel chronically under-appreciated in her relationship with Joe. That’s a very, very difficult thing for any relationship to overcome, whether it’s just one person feeling that way or it’s actually truly what’s happening. I still feel like the most telling lyric we have about the breakdown of that relationship is “and I wouldn't marry me either / a pathological people pleaser / who only wanted you to see her.” Like, I’ve been there, and that’s a POWERFUL negative feeling to have!

I wanna join the party. The way he drags the Swifties is always a moment. :gaylorcat2:

Plus I agree with a lot of his takes on Taylor/her career.

Me too. And when I don't agree, I can see that at least he provides arguments to back it up. He's very eloquent!

The way he absolutely refused to be seen in any pic with her or talk about her in ANY interview whatsoever, the way he would forcibly push her in a car when there was paparazzi, the way she was never seen having fun in public the entire time they were together,... It's also pretty obvious some sad songs on Midnights were about him, like Sweet Nothing. The way almost every single Taylor friend unfollowed him on social media post-breakup was a pretty telling sign that something was off.

Sweet Nothing is a love song…

I still think Midnights contains most of the negative things about the Joe breakup she wanted to put out there, and TS11 will not have much, if at all about Joe. Why would she release a sad breakup album so long after the exhilarating feeling of a record breaking world tour, and 2 other relationships? It’s not coincidence she tacked You’re Losing Me onto Midnights. I think musically she’s done with that chapter.

I do think the break-up will be present on TS11, but I don’t think it will be the main theme of the album either.

This. I think she’ll have some songs about it, but I highly doubt TS11 will be a “breakup album”.

i’m so happy for her and the good sis must be EATING good. I mean, getting ch*ked by that arm every night whew

but that being said, there is nothing I hate more than football and seeing all those sports bros jump on the bandwagon is so triggering for me. I only have bad memories associated with it and sp*rts in general, so I hope we won’t get any tacky sp*rts metaphors on TS11

I don’t think it will all be breakup songs but a 7 year relationship ended and she was clearly pretty emotionally effected m. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if it’s considered her “breakup” album since there is a good chance we will get her most devastating breakup songs yet .

But of course , Taylor is going to focus on making a great album above all else . Even red wasn’t all breakup songs .
