Hey guys, do you think Taylor knew she wasn't winning any Grammys this year? I found it weird that she would attend if she knew she wouldn't win SOTY, but at the same time I think maybe she was attending so she could win next year with Midnights. What do you think?

Yeah, but that Grammy was given at the preshow and she didn't even pick it up, so there was no need for her to attend the show.

I think it might be possible for her to sweep the general field this time. Her insane success this year so far + 1989 TV and The Eras Tour film might secure them I fear

Yes, I think there is a high chance that she will sweep this year, and the Eras Tour Film + 1989 TV will help Midnights Grammy campaign. But this probably has nothing to do with her attending this year's ceremony, and she just thought she would win SOTY.

I don't really see a full-on sweep happening and tbh I don't want it to. She just needs Pop Vocal Album because she only has 1  I think Guts is her only competition and I'm giving the edge to Midnights for now. Anything else is a plus. Obviously, she deserves a SOTY but I'm not quite sure about Anti-Hero's chances. I haaaate how Blank Space didn't get her that award

An AOTY win seems unlikely, but so did Harrys House's win last year and here we are. Plus, Taylor's cultural impact has been impressive and the Grammys probably want to reward it. BPVA is a guaranteed win, but I don't know what to expect from the main categories.

This alone is proof that she needs to win AOTY for Midnight next year. She is literally carrying the industry on her shoulders, no one else even comes close. She deserves it, but we all know she won't get it for political reasons.

I do not think the Grammys will let you know whether you won or not regardless of how big an artist you are.

Quite honestly, I hope she wins SOTY.  It’s long overdue.

A 4th AOTY, especially this soon, would really be an overkill imo. I think her 3 AOTY wins perfectly represented 3 major moments/milestones/transitions in her career (Fearless was her breakthrough album and one of the biggest country albums ever - 1989 was a full-on genre shift to Pop after Red's loss and became her biggest album ever - folklore was yet another genre shift leaning more into alt/singer-songwriter stuff following the stagnant 2017-2019 albums, is arguably her magnum opus to fans and critics, and kickstarted her current imperial phase). As huge as Midnights is, I personally don't think it really sits with them. The current Taylormania is mostly due to The Eras Tour not just that album tbf. 

 

Also, HH's win last year was already a messT. I just know that him and Taylor winning back-to-back over Beyoncé/SZA would open the gates of hell ( and rightfully so). If they want to award her in the GF, then they can give her a long-awaited SOTY win.

I agree that the 4th AOTY can wait. However, I don't see the Academy voting for "Anti-Hero" over "Flowers". Although I guess no one saw Bonnie Raitt winning SOTY last year either.

Midnights is an excellent pop album. It houses many incredible songs (Maroon, YOYOK, WCS, TGW, HI), quality bops (AH, Karma, Bejeweled, LH), and then some (Glitch, Dear Reader, Midnight Rain, Labyrinth, BTTWS). It's sonically diverse, yet forms a cohesive body of work. 

 

It definitely at least deserves a nomination for AOTY. Pretty sure she won't win, but apart from SZA's SOS and Lana's DYKTATUOB, there's not many other albums that I think deserve it more. The quality of the record, coupled with the success of the album and Taylor Swift's catalogue as a whole this year and the very short list of collaborators... Midnights fits the bill perfectly to take home the trophy. The fact she already has 3 AOTY wins clearly works against her though and that's why I think she won't win.

Isn't SZA releasing SOS deluxe in the fall? I feel like she could sweep the general field tbh, if a Black artist is gonna win AOTY i always thought it would a AC-friendly R&B type of artist and SZA is exactly that.

omg ik, I was watching that 3/4 times a day and when it was gone I cursed Her and her team. at least i managed to download it from the link the creator posted so i can bop to it, but the video version was a collapse as well and that's now lost . I think someone uploaded the audio to spotify as a podcast tho
