Considering writing her music is the reason she is able to re-record her music, I am 100% convinced that Scott/Scooter would have exposed her earlier.

That's what I was thinking too. Len Chandler just passed away this week so I think that's why he was on my Mother's mind. My Mom and I got over that argument but it's just stupid that I got bitched at over that. She basically said she wants to make sure all the writers get paid their fair due :deadbanana2: - I mean, fair point, but Taylor is the wrong artist to bring it up with. If it was Rihanna or Selena Gomez (love both but they aren't exactly songwriters) then it would be a different story and I probably wouldn't have been referred to as disrespectful or other the other insults I got last night.

Fast forward 4 years and now she’s doing these numbers with only physical pre-sale numbers for a re-recording of a decade-old album :deadbanana4:

The way I 100% thought this was the first step to her fading commercially into the background and just being “normally” successful, I had no idea what was coming and I’ll never doubt her again :clownny:

Yeah, I thought so too. I knew she’d never fade into irrelevancy because duh she’s always been too huge for that, but I thought her career was just naturally winding down a bit as it does for most musicians at a certain point. If only we had known what she would do after that :deadbanana4:

Happy for the success of the concert film so far, but I’ll wait until it’s on streaming. Unless I’m actually AT the concert I’d rather not have the audience be screaming and dancing :rip:

Trying to buy tickets to see the film at Alamo, and there are 700 people still in line in the queue in front of me. Most of the good tickets for the first two weekends are already gone

What do you say when tears are steaming down your face in front of everyone you know?

And what do you do when the one who means the most to you is the one who didn’t show?

The climax, the emotions, the Whitney-like singing. She went in.

Cruel Summer now has 10 weeks top 10 on US & WW Spotify. The global legend.

(It joins 20 other solo female smashes, including Anti Hero.)

Reputation and Folklore should drop off here pretty soon, right? At least if LWYMMD and Cardigan keep up at their current paces :heart2:

I wouldn’t say it almost killed her career since, just like Lover as well, it really won in the end and is beloved now. But yeah at the time it wasn’t well received no matter what people say. And I’d say the journey since then is what led to it seeing a resurgence and being reassessed by some, so she definitely course-corrected beautifully.

The combination rep + meth was almost fatal.

Then now when you have showed with the projects after you didn't lose your way people watch at them with less severity.

Rep is not that beloved btw (at least we don't talk of that Swifties loving everything). For being so recent and a big pop release It's the one having the worst tour effect honestly.

Delicate was #1 on several radio formats including pop, and Lover outsold all other 199 albums on the Billboard 200 combined in its first week and was the #1 album of 2019 both in the USA and #2 worldwide:rip: y'all are really dramatic sometimes

You guys are delusional sorry :deadbanana2: (well not you Holiest Dreams, but I must push back on the idea that Lover wasn’t a disaster for Her career)

Reputation opened with 1m+ copies. This reflects the fact that Swifties enjoyed LWYMMD, RFI, Gorgeous, and CIWYW, which were all available ahead of release. The only thing Reputation “killed” was Her radio power with some polarizing singles, but that obviously a moot point after Delicate did well. The album then led to one of the most successful tours of all time and certainly Her most successful until Eras.

The fact that Lover opened with Her lowest sales in 10 years directly reflects the fact that Her fans hated everything they heard from Lover pre-release :deadbanana: The fact that ME! was edited because fans hated it so much is just unprecedented :deadbanana: Those singles also ruined what Delicate did for Her at radio.

The fact that Her next two albums were a complete genre change barely a year after Lover proves that She knows Lover put Her career on life support and that She had a lot to prove as an artist.

Lover is doing so well now because She picked up a ton of new cupcake fans over the last few years + it has a current hit single + a brand new track was tacked on this year (things that reflect how huge She is in 2023, not 2019). At the time it came out, it was undoubtedly a disaster for Her career.

Reputation is doing amazingly well on Spotify, especially considering it’s Her only album (besides Debut) that hasn’t been re-released, hasn’t had songs tacked on recently, hasn’t had a single since 2018, hasn’t been re-announced or promoted/hyped… c’mon. Reputation haters will eat their words when she gets her flowers next year :gaycat4:
