Taylor just had the biggest album of her career and has the chance to have an even bigger one. She has spent 10 years trying to breakthrough in Europe/ Latin America. She finally has. Literally the biggest she’s ever been. Everywhere. Ts11 will def be commercial. My guess is she will try to make something to further grow worldwide - specifically in the European market. My guess is slick , shiny, maximalist disco/ pop/ electro pop with big choruses. Sophisticated slightly alt dance/ disco/ new wave pop left of center. Think Robyn. Tove lo. Peak Gaga. Rina. Charli. Confessions Madonna.  Probs a sophisticated dance album about her 7 year relationship ending. Her dancing on my own. Probs will have some patchworky elements like red/ lover/ midnights to try to appeal to her broad bases tastes. Probs will experiment on a few songs too like she did on midnights.  Maybe experiment slightly with trance/ euro dance.

Also she’s gotten her doubles pierced and is publicly engaging with marijuana so my guess is she will be a little sexier/ edgier/ more adult next era. Wouldn’t surprised me if she packages it as high brow pop and served visuals like 2011 gaga or Renaissance bey. Maybe some psychedelic influences visually.

Jack and Aaron will be involved and I’m guessing she might work with new people too.

heck, ts12 and 13 will probably be commercial too.

Yeah I think her next few albums will absolutely be pop and very much commercial, if anyone is wanting a big pivot or something left field… well…

With that said, I don’t think that means anything in terms of the quality. Taylor is and always has been a commercial musician who makes commercially viable music, which doesn’t mean anything bad unless you want it to. Red is insanely acclaimed and beloved, and it’s definitely a commercial album lol. She just needs to make sure the production is top notch and expand more in that department (I love Midnights but we need something new), and make sure she gives a good mix of deep dives lyrically and some pop bangers. That’s what I expect.

Tldr for TS11, 12, maybe 13 - she will want to capitalize and expand on her newfound global dominance and I don’t blame her. It doesn’t mean she can’t make good music and be commercially viable as well.

I think she's smart enough to know her 2 last trump cards are 'shift to poprock' and 'return to country', she's not playing those anytime soon because she's on top of the world and she'll clearly maximize her reach and further solidify herself in Europe, a market that has been resistant until recently. Maybe even give us a taste of her salsa quincenera (the Vigilante **** remix on TikTok is hilarious but a bop) and lock in Lat. Am for good!

So yeah I think you guys are right, the Disco Swiffers won I fear :fan: She's coming to give us her very own Renaissance/Future Nostalgia :jonny5: Jess Glynne and Rita Ora better HOLD onto their wigs.

Imagine if Aaron Dessner and Antonoff made her dance record :deadbanana4:

As long as we’re clear that there’s a difference between staying pop forever and staying commercially viable, I’m good. I could even tolerate the disco album that’s been the center of discussion lately, or the right kind of Robyn-adjacent dance pop record. But even though Midnights helped rehabilitate Pop Taylor for me, even her older albums, I will scream if her return to pure pop lasts too long. :rip: Like I’ll still like the albums, I’m sure, but someone has to put a guitar in her hand at some point.

I still think a pivot to a rock sound could be both commercially huge and very, very good. I Can See You was a nice little teaser of what I’d like to see from the next new album, actually. Maybe some sounds inspired by The National; I think I’ve mentioned before that their song The System Only Dreams in Total Darkness is something I’d love to hear from Taylor. It seems like a natural result of working with Aaron that she’d branch out in that direction.

TS11 will be HAIM Pop... I fear

MUNA needs to produce TS11.

They have the perfect blend of indie pop-rock, synth-pop and country. They'd make magic for her.

If you really think about it TS11 is like her first "breakup" album in some sense. I mean Red is the epitome of it but it really didn't feel like "wow she really made the entire album with the breakup theme" at that time. Fans didn't wait for what she would say about Jake. People lowkey didn't really care the story behind it. Her going pop and Harry drama kinda overshadowed it too.

Then again I feel like TS11 will more be more about her life lesson and very self-reflected introspective soul searching album

And she also (incredibly) successfully pivot with folklore, that was something new. I don't think she should be afraid of flopping as long as she keeps her writing top notch.

I am well aware that there's like a 90% chance that her next album will be pure pop, but just like you I want her to switch it up. In 2022/2023/2024, she will have had Midnights, Lover resurgence, 1989 TV, Reputation TV... we are already heavily fed with her pop music. Something new would be great imo.

In addition, with the way she's been focused on her catalogue lately with the TVs and The Eras Tour, there's a perfect narrative for her to venture elsewhere and try a new sonic palette. Just like you, I think a rock-influenced album would be a home-run both commercially, critically, and in terms of the narrative surrounding her (the girl that keeps switching sounds).

She needs to make a great album next. So it can't be pop.

I would be very much pleased with an album similar to Ignorance by Weather Station. Her and Tamara Lindeman could work very well together. And the best thing about that record is that her pop sebsibilites can be present too.

This is so Taylor’s lane. :heart2:

I reallyy hope with TS11 she can get her first #1 song in The Netherlands....

A collab is coming, huh?

my theory still is that she’s going to release a deluxe version of 1989 tv with remixes of from the vault tracks featuring different artists.

doubt this is for clout, because as much as this stunt would bring him traction, it would backfire in his face if it's a lie and I don't think that he's one to be this dumb

but at the same time, would she actually do it???

the potential for endless viral tweets, gifs and memes is insane :jonny:

right? he's one of my favorite interviewers along with Trevor Noah and Zane Lowe.

and what makes me hopeful that this may actually happen is the fact that he managed to get thee Viola Davis which means that he's capable of pulling major strings...

Sean Evans asks great questions. Would be interesting to see what he digs up on her

Yes, I need something sounds like Women in Music Pt. III and MUNA

What if she made the entire album working with female songwriters and producers

Will be great too

I feel like Midnights really is the break-up album. I'd be surprised if TS11 is all about the Joe breakup, maybe just a couple songs.
