A few thoughts on the Nicki collab:

is this a collab from 2014 that was scrapped? Did Nicki write the verse in 2014? I don’t think Nicki would rap/ sing something she didn’t write - and I don’t think Taylor was writing raps yet in 2014. If it’s a new verse, is this more revisionist history? Thought the point of vault tracks was that they were already finished and in the vault or has she thrown that out entirely and is willing to rewrite things now? I personally still think all the vault tracks will be solo and then she’ll release a deluxe with 5 remixes of the vault tracks from different artists :eli:… Nicki, dua, Harry, The Weeknd, Selena, and the bad blood remix with Kendrick as the re recording on the original will most likely have the originals production while the snippet we have already heard has the remix production

realizing from my research for that other thread that Taylor is having the best year for any artist in the Nielsen SoundScan/Luminate era has been… and that’s without counting the tour :gaycat6: the sheer scale of her commercial power has literally not been seen since the years when record sales were basically just made up by record store managers and labels’ cooked books. This might actually be the biggest single year for an artist in total US units moved since MJ the year Thriller released :gaycat7:

Sometimes, I still can’t believe evermore exists, that it happened, and it blew half if not all of her albums out of the water, out of nowhere, during a pandemic. CRAZY!

Let that, but whole 1-16 ( later 1-17 too ) run is brilliant.
I remember vividly what an experience that was while listening to the album for the firsr time when it dropped. :heart2:

Honestly the entire run from The 1 through Illicit Affairs is just one 11/10 song after another and then there's Invisible String that ruins the streak :gaycat6:

I'm sorry, I can't listen to that song without thinking of that man :gaycat7:

It's the only 9/10 on a 17 song album that's otherwise all 11/10s. I hope you can forgive me :gaycat4:

I would love to say it's fair but I can't. invisible string is only bested by the last great american dynasty on folklore for me.

I wish Swifties wouldn't overate the 1 so much, so that Blondie would feel like she has to bring invisible string back into the setlist.

But I forgive you. My ranking of folklore does not align at all with the general consensus anyway.

It's funny, I can listen to the instrumental to Invisible String all day and have no problems (because it really is one of the strongest instrumentals on an album chock full of strong instrumentals, but the second I hear her talking about him working in the yogurt shop or hearing Bad Blood on the radio in LA I just get the shudders :gaycat6:

Also yeah, that is an... interesting folklore ranking. I'm glad to see you give Mad Woman her dues, most seem to ignore it. I do need to talk to you about why My Tears Ricochet is at the bottom of the 10/10s though :dancehall3:

Because just like you can't dissociate invisible string from Joe, I can't dissociate my tears ricochet from Scott, and therefore I don't relate to it one bit. It's in the 10/10s because I can't ignore a great song when I hear it though. :bird:

Mexico dates, plus 1989TV, plus August surge really helped her regain from the losses of SNTV. I think once that effect fell off she literally only lost not even 2 million Spotify listeners :dies: She regained that back so quick.

I hope she can hit 100M before August effect drops in a couple days. It’s so nice seeing August on her most popular page Spotify

i wish we had a dark and twisted era from her, kinda like harley quinn, no bang but messy black hair, black lipstick, navy blue eyeshadow and stained nurse outfit:jonny6:

album cover art shows her maniacal smile while shes snuggling with a handsome mutilated (in a vanilla way) corpse in a bathtub filled with blood, pills and syringes

she'd be everything puta wishes to be me fear

My ranking of Folklore lately basically has gone some thing like…

1. Mirrorball / Illicit Affairs (tied)

2. All the other songs (tied)

:rip: But at least that means there’s no skips, consistent quality!
