Cruel Summer Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 Was trying to look up on Wikipedia whether there was any info about prerelease sales projections for Putato and I read that Billboard said it had one of the worst album covers of 2017? Terrible taste, I love its cover

Terrible taste, I love its cover So I looked into this a few months ago when certain losers in here were giving alternative facts MAGAts saying HDD never lowered their predictions when in fact they did I googled “ATRL reputation HDD predictions” because the OTHs back then (anyone remember those Adele Stans?) documented the falling predictions very well but I’m afraid those threads might have been lost after ATRL did a reset. You can probably still find the HDD articles (billboard probably has a few too)
4Real Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 Yeah the reputation album cover sux, if ur a graphic designer u know

I’m not sure what should’ve been the cover, but I actually don’t hate the Rep era looks altogether because I’ve always liked these: Spoiler I’m actually really looking forward to the Rep TV cover. 1

Further proof of a deep generational chasm that divides ATRL into two camps; the twentysomething pop sophisticates with 15 to 20 years of top-shelf pop consumption to their name, and an unruly kid crew with K-pop avatars and tributes to Charlie Puth in their signatures. It's not that the latter generation is a lost cause entirely, but they've clearly never heard a "Taylor" — that is, they've never encountered a voice quite as distinctive as Taylor's. "But I know Taylor! Lover was the first album I bought!" First off, ask for a refund. And no, you don't know Taylor, you know a very stilted and subdued version of the iconic performer. The Taylor of "LWYMMD TV" is Taylor as Taylor is intended to sound. She very skillfully vacillates between a range of tones; she nasally, then guttural, then grainy, then nasally again, then delicate. (And yes, that's how she's supposed to do it.) She's sultry. She's goofy. She's sounds slightly absurd. She's fully engaged. She's expressive in ways that "technically superior" vocalists just aren't. She is brilliant. You have no idea how brilliant she is. This is the probably purest attempt Taylor has made to harness some of that ineffable charm that made her early work so irresistible. I adore it. The way Lover is the perfect album to use for this part of the copypasta Edited August 24, 2023 by G.U.Y_Del_Rey

4Real Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 I sent her this idea for the rep tv cover on her ig dm long ago and it looked GOOD (it was like a dramatic pic of a face with words written all over it), i hope she saw it. 1

I think it could have maybe been executed a little better, but I like the simplicity of the black and white more than anything else. It’s straightforward and I like the stance/posture. But I do think it’ll be super interesting to see what she does with the new cover! 1

Thank you sis as usual for the gag!
Taylor fanboy Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 Lover album cover is better than reputation and Midnights.
Cruel Summer Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 Now can we mention how I totally forgot how good the 1-2-3 punch of KOMH, DWOHT, and Dress was? Like… girlie brought that MPG energy hard, and then a couple tracks later we get Call It What You Worship, oh my 4
BloodLuster Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 why are Lover stans so happy blondie needs to hurry up with that Cruel Summer MV cause 1
Taylor fanboy Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 That user keeps on babbling about reputation but not even an ounce of entertainment. MOVE ON sis. No one’s laughing with you. 1

Holiest Dreams Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 I hated the reputation album cover so much when it leaked that I almost had a meltdown However, after all this time, it’s one of her best covers imo. With that said though, it absolutely could’ve been better from a graphic design standpoint. First of all, I don’t like the title being on the left side and it should’ve been totally empty with the title mixed in with her name on the right side. Secondly, they could’ve done something so that the newspaper text looks better. It would’ve looked cooler if it was edited to look like the text was partially painted on her right side with the rest looking like it’s painted on the background. Idk how that would work but just… yeah, it could’ve been executed better. 1 1

The range of emotion she delivered is SUPERB.
Goaty Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 (edited) I've never liked the reputation cover because conceptually it feels too on-the-nose. But that's a gripe I have with a lot of her visuals in general Edited August 24, 2023 by Goaty 1
