Yeah it's a skip for me now along with Timeless

Foolish One was the real grower

Now girl :deadbanana:

Imo it is:

I Can See You >> Timeless >> Foolish One >> Electric Touch >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Castles Crumbling >>>> When Emma Bores You

The first 4 up to Electric Touch are all great, you just need to be in the right mood to appreciate the Electric Touch euphoria

Timefiller is too on the nose for me, sounds like she had just seen The Notebook and was inspired for five minutes

Alright I finally listened to Midnights. Very chill/easy listen. I expected that soft pop sound going into it so I was in that mindset. There were some cool production moments throughout, but I think lyrically this wasn’t very strong. It’s a 7/10 for me on this listen.

I’d say the 3 that stuck with me the most were Lavender Haze, Labyrinth, and Karma.

Shoutout to You’re On Your Own, Kid.

I’ll have to get around to 3am/all those bonus tracks at some other time.

did Caitlyn come back for the re-recordings?

I’m probably wrong but I always felt like she was salty (just like Grant) that she changed her sound and let go of the musicians she didn’t need anymore after Red

I agree. People have been criticising the production since it came out and saying it was the problem but honestly Jack executed her vision perfectly and created a solid soundscape around her lyrics. It’s just her lyrics kinda sucked on Midnights

I had NO idea Taylor was also part of the infamous "Mi Gente Latino" speech from JLO.

As a casual fan being re-introduced to Her earlier work, if we prefer the original over the TVs, should we keep that to ourselves or...? Is it not cool to stream the originals? Honestly just want to know the etiquette of it all. Speak Now has me gagged but I find myself going back to the 2010 record.

Like it's a chore for me to listen to Haunted TV compared to the original :rip: Do I just get over it?

Preach!

people acting as if midnights isn't her best pop record lyric wise. It is way better than lover rep and 1989, nobody was comparing it to folklore ffs :skull: idg the hate boner some people are getting for midnights, is it because of how successful it was?

Happy birthday to this underrated gem :chick3:

I feel like it ultimately depends on two things: how much you stan Taylor and/or how you feel about the masters situation. I know longtime and hardcore Swifties will never stream the originals again just out of principle (I have my old albums and vinyls if I’m ever feeling super nostalgic), but casual fans are more likely to pick and choose which version they prefer. Taylor still makes money from the original versions, it’s just…those other people do as well. It’s honestly not the worst thing ever, though.

I respect her business hustle so much, she's THEE boss, so when these TVs come out I feel the need to support this genius retribution she's getting on these old white men.

But... then I hear WANEGBT, IKYWT TVs and it's like... am I to be blamed by never listening to those again :skull: There's only so much emotional sympathy Miss Swift can try to pull from me.

I don’t like WANEGBT TV, and I legitimately love or like the majority of the TVs. It’s such a misstep. :skull: I don’t mind IKTWT TV, though.

Yes! WANGBT was the only TV I didn't like (though I kinda hated it since the beginning nnn)

all of them were big improvements to me especially her vocals, they made SN jump to my top 3 albums of hers. I actually like IKYWT too :gaycat6: lol not much people like it but I thought she did a good job of making it sound less dated

Same. It’s just so jarring. I’m not sure what happened there, but that’s the one they dropped the ball on.

I think IKYWT sounds fine, same goes for 22, too. I think the TVs have been a massive improvement. SN was already my favorite album, but the TV. :jonny5:
