I've noticed it for a while and it annoy the hell out of me how every time she has songs that are fun and a bit superficial, many Swifties are quick to call it crap. And i hate it, we need to be able to enjoy her fun, silly songs.

That's because those are the songs the oth latch on to the most to point out how talentless she is/ overrated her songwriting is, so the cupcake swifties feel the need to distance themselves from those songs. Do you think it's a coincidence the oth have collectively decided that Folklore and Evermore do not exist and continuously talk about Karma and other campy, glitter gel pen songs on Midnights as if they're the only songs in her discography?

I think these songs are a testament to Taylor's songwriting talents. She can write a devastatingly poignant ode to a forbidden sapphic love affair in a song like Ivy and then write a brilliantly scathing, irresistibly catchy kiss-off in a song like We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.

Age shaming is also a favorite pass time on here and people are already saying that she's pushing 40 while she's 33 and use the campy songs as ammunition. The atrl/ stan twitter viewpoint that adults aren't allowed to be silly and fun is proof of how emotionally immature/ stunted a lot of chronically online people are, because, in my personal experience, you tend to take yourself and life less seriously as you get older and not the other way around.

You make a lot of good points. Ageism is one form of bigotry that is still 100% allowed no matter what.

Her glitter gel pen songs are not all equal though.

Something like SSS, Gorgeous or ME! is outright terrible. But she has her fair share of great glitter gel pen songs like Karma, WANEGBT or SIO.

I'd listen to Bejeweled any day, while never wanting to have to listen to TIWWCHNT.

It's not being boring or edgy to dislike some of her glitter gel pen songs. Disliking all of them is a different discussion though. I'm not sure how you can call yourself a Swiftie when this type of songs is such an important part of her as an artist.

Listening to midnights after a while and I think it's the new quintessential Taylor album. Red is celebrated as the essential album for the first 8 years or so of Taylor's career, as it straddles the country and pop sensibilities of her career up to that point. Midnights does the same thing for her entire almost two-decade-old career. It's not a coincidence that Taylor decided to make the monumental tenth studio album benchmark a celebration of her sonic endeavors on her past 9 albums, as Midnigths was created during the recording process of her past discography and consequently serves as an amalgamation of the essences of what makes each album special.

Midnights mixes the storytelling building blocks of her earlier career (Midnight Rain and You're on your own kid harken back to themes she explored on debut and Fearless), with pop-rock influences of Speak Now (You're on you own, kid), the camp of Red's pop songs (Karma, Bejeweled), the quirky 80s synth-pop and satirical self-awareness of 1989 (Anti-Hero is the love child of Out of the Woods sonically, and Blank Space lyrically, Mastermind is New Romantics younger sister lyrically, Maroon reminds me of Style), the dark, industrial, r&b tinged instrumentals of Reputation (Maroon, Midnight Rain, Glitch, Dear Reader), the offbeat sonics of Lover (Snow on the Beach and It's Nice to Have a Friend, Sweet Nothing/ You're Losing Me and Cornelia Street, The Archer and Labyrinth), the unrestrained and unconventional lyricism of folklore and evermore ( The Great War, Would've Could've Should've, Hits Different), and the perspective of a 30 something Taylor to deliver a collage of songs that honour and venerate her musical legacy so far.

Are Swifties this hateful towards Beyoncé on Twitter? This feels like a one sided feud :'(

It is. Taylor breaks all their fantasies above cultural impact, all they have is 30-40k crowds reported as sold out in 50-60k stadiums, people talking about eras tour and not their tour, not boost of any kind because not even attendants care about her music (just hair hair movements and outfits)…all that have turned that fan base is really virulent against Taylor

Agree. They are mad because they can't even play impact card this time.

Can't wait for the box-score honestly.

Deuxmoi said that they heard Taylor is currently seeing a "fan-favorite" 🎭 guy, and some people think it's Andrew Garfield.

But he's been in Europe this entire summer so it's kinda impossible for them to be an item idk.

And Taylor obliviating that tour in Europe was the last nail in their coffin
