I’m sure she’ll push it as a single. She has too.

If it’s the song in the end credits then what else could it be?

@istan4badgalriri

Yeah it’s obviously going to be pushed as a single since it’s the end-credits track, like All The Stars was

Marvel would be crazy to have Rihanna’s comeback song on their soundtrack and do nothing :dies:

Also: I remember when "Insiders" were teasing about Anti and even a big music station in the UK was teasing about it... remember her response?

Don't believe anything unless it comes directly from her mouth.

Those were self-proclaimed insiders on Twitter and ‘DJ Skee’ (not a big UK radio station) lol

We’re talking about HDD and the NYTimes here :dies: plus @Mr.S

@istan4badgalriri

I think it will be pushed as a single too.

It be wild for an artist to come outta hiding and do a song for a film and it not go beyond that. :skull:

I do think it will be pushed as a single I just wonder if it will also be pushed as the lead or launch for the new era

Oh I doubt this will have any correlation to R9.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking...could be an opportunity to build more hype for the era, add to the SB setlist, and I imagine Rih would have only agreed to the end credits song with a strong Oscar campaign.

MTE

I’m intrigued to hear what they sound like, cause the first soundtrack was R&B and Afrobeats. I can see 1 track being afrobeats/pop and the other a ballad. Then if she performs it at SB or Oscars next year its an instant #1.

Would love afrobeats/pop mix

With that being said....I'm more sure now that we won't get a lead single for R9 until Jan at the earliest...maybe even post SB

OMGGG this is so exciting!! :jonny5:

Why are we so sure R9 is coming? :rip: The Black Panther song is the song that's supposed to build hype for the Superbowl - whether it's performed or not. Kuk Harrell's IG post was probably about this soundtrack song :rip:

So we are legitimately hyped then? :jonnycat:

A song as a lead artist? :jonny6:

Hopefully she serves another diamonds. :jonny6:

I bet her voice will have a much richer and deeper tone to it :jonny6:

I just don't see her booking the biggest performance opportunity in her career and NOT using it as the launching pad for a new album/era. Plus the reports of her touring next year...why would she tour with no new album?

I thought the same thing.

I really think she has been taking vocal lessons (I really don't know why... But I have that feeling)

Btw....are there any other notable artists that are scheduled to release their album in Jan/Feb 2023?

Bc she's doing a stadium tour next year according to the same source that broke the news about her Black Panther contribution, and because she's not gonna end a very long hiatus with 1 soundtrack single and the Super Bowl only to resume her hiatus afterwards and drop no album. :rip:

My biggest hope is that it will be like what The Weeknd did with "Earned It" which was lead single of Fifty Shades soundtrack but also the lead single from "Beauty from the Madness" He only followed months later with "The Hills" as second single when the album was ready.

That's how you get an oscar nom and ramp up an album campaign. Best of both worlds.

I can see this happening if the soundtrack record is a smash and it fits the theme for R9.

Jan 27 - Sam Smith

Feb 3 - Ellie Goulding

Feb 10 - Paramore

these are the only 'big' artists releasing in Q1 so far

That's a pretty favorable lineup

No, not ar all. The BP sountrack is just a nice warm up. Movies have a very short lifespan these days. Nobody will care about BP by mid-February. She WILL drop a proper lead single closer to the SB.

'Big'?

Maybe Sam (specially in the UK) but the other 2....?

I think Rih should definitely go for 1Q release just after the SB

We are definitely getting R9 next year methinks

We’re getting 2 new songs. Let’s all be grateful. Hopefully this is big and she gets an Oscar nomination and Golden Globe at least. An Oscar win will just be amazing right after the Super Bowl. I expect the true lead single for the album to drop the week before her Super Bowl performance.

Do y’all realize just how big this next era is going to be? I don’t think people are truly realizing what’s to come, she’s gonna completely take next year. Unless things just completely go the wrong way this could be as big as at it gets. If her next album is as good as Anti and she manages to not completely fall flat at the Super Bowl, someone better order me a stan card.
