Givemeyourcoat Posted June 15, 2024 Posted June 15, 2024 I wonder how they are gonna promote the album and how they're gonna cater it to a community (hip hip/ rnb)
Givemeyourcoat Posted June 15, 2024 Posted June 15, 2024 The most viewed songs on YouTube are : 1. Big Boy 2. All yours 3. Insomnia / lights on I guess they are gonna pick a songs from there to push. Also « Still » can be a club hit « Take my time » can be a fashion shops / shows song (interesting knowing she wants to be more involved in the fashion world) 3

Massive_Teardrop Posted June 15, 2024 Posted June 15, 2024 (edited) Would like to chime in and say "Dopamine" is my favorite R&B album of the year. Normani surprised me and really delivered a project full of sonic variety, excellent production throughout. She also delivers a lot of vocal range throughout the songs. Loving it!! HenryHope Posted June 15, 2024 Posted June 15, 2024 Is anyone else really obsessed with Lights On? I have not listened to anything else yet, only Lights On has been on replay. The song reminds me of Wild Side's bridge. There are so many layers to it, I keep re-listening and enjoy focusing on the different parts. I especially love the soothing background vocals in the second verse. It is a dreamy song, like you are floating on a cloud. I checked the credits. HARV, Tommy Brown, and Victoria Monet worked on the song. No wonder it is magical. 6 2

I've kinda forgotten the rest of the album exists Lights On is on the level of Wild Side to me, dare I say maybe even above it. It deserves a music video 3

wildsidenormani Posted June 15, 2024 Posted June 15, 2024 so we didn't make it on to a single Spotify chart. not that i'm surprised or that i care but i just know some people on here are gonna be ruthless. first day numbers are imminent and i do not wish to see them. i also don't want to see next week's inevitable discourse about her billboard 200 position logging off for a few weeks. bye for now yall 1
AFullMoonlight Posted June 15, 2024 Posted June 15, 2024 Well…it is a mostly R&B album so that's to be expected. It's performing well on AM. Can't expect much charts wise when all the promo was hopes & dreams. 3

Also the album is doing well on Apple Music and iTunes, is that enough to offset weaker Spotify numbers? 1

Hell, since when are you a meltdown stan? Be calm - I do think it's time we question why Normani & her team booked no festivals, no concrete tour news, no stationhead/fan live, no in person event post-release, no tv interviews, no radio interviews, no performance on a late show, no day time talk show, no podcast interview, no twitter album q&a, no studio footage, no discussion of working with victoria (she dropped this week, use her name for clout hello!), not even a tiktok live? Like what's going on here? It's giving they think she's Beyonce for real. Drop and go silent. I can understand no music videos and stuff that take budget but everything I just listed (minus the performances if they get dancers or any in-person event) is cheap or free (All of this is also why wheresjay is gone. He knew the release was a mess and didn't want to break the news/be negative with us). Edited June 15, 2024 by Flare 6

shelven Posted June 15, 2024 Posted June 15, 2024 I mean... if you haven't already prepared for the debut numbers to be terrible, what have you been doing for literally the last two months? This isn't going to be some shock twist girls, you should have all internalized this when Candy Paint debuted with 465K worldwide instead of forcing yourselves to believe those numbers were actually good It is what it is. She/her team chose to take a non-existent minimalistic approach to promoting this album, so they're probably not expecting good numbers (at least during the debut week). She delivered QUALITY and that's all that we should care about at this point 11
Givemeyourcoat Posted June 15, 2024 Posted June 15, 2024 Those numbers OMG, those 2 next weeks are gonna be VERY hard
ToraeGilt Posted June 15, 2024 Posted June 15, 2024 Arts not the charts sisters. I knew this wasn't going to do well commercially based on the roll out and the numbers for the pre-release singles. Let's jus enjoy the music cuz the quality is there 2

I'm getting the vibe they aren't doing any tour or anything lowkey. They might release some visuals then Normani is going off to do movies or something else. It's giving a "here damn theres the album shut up" moment and not "omg we're dropping a high quality debut album that we'll push the rest of 2024 and try to get a grammy nom". The complete lack of effort even after seeing the initial GOOD reception, scares me. 1
scrltwtch Posted June 15, 2024 Posted June 15, 2024 choosing to save my breakdown for the end of week 2 and just enjoying that this album dropped and it's actually excellent

I can understand no music videos and stuff that take budget but everything I just listed (minus the performances if they get dancers or any in-person event) is cheap or free. Exactly. Where's the content she did with Destiny Vaughn? I can understand the aversion to social media, but she can do stuff like recorded performances and diary videos. They promote her like a tenure act and although she's been in the industry for a minute, she's nothing of the sort. This is a brand new spanking artist who needs to be promoting her stuff. She says nobody cares more than her, but she doesn't act like it. People on the outside (not a part of her base) thinks this is absolutely crazy and unheard of because it is. Also, it's high time Spotify stopped having streaming data available to the public. Hate that a great album is about to get crapped on because it didn't meet unrealistic expectations. They better work the hell out of this for the rest of the year! I'm expecting to see her name on festival lineups soon. 4
remming Posted June 15, 2024 Posted June 15, 2024 I feel like the only people having a breakdown about the numbers are delusional. I have known from how the rollout has been that the numbers weren't going to be good. People may have thought I was being a hater but I really love Normani. I am just realistic The album is great and getting good feedback. If her team releases the music videos the same day the physical copies ship, her album may be able to re-peak later this summer. Maybe in the top 15. 5
