HEAVYONIT Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 The whole Cobra situation with Meg really has me thinking the double standard that Nicki is held to and it's pretty unfair. When Meg, for example, has a vulnerable moment with Cobra that "flops" (or doesn't post big numbers, let's say), she is praised. When Nicki is vulnerable and releases something like LTISY and that' flops, she isn't praised for her vulnerability and instead called a flop.
SashaDevachelli Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 That Dudja video was incredibly disturbing to watch, I get why Nicki never texts her back 1

But I also think that Nicki's caliber is higher than Megan because of Nicki's success. Nicki have alot more hits than Megan so people expect Nicki to have hits everytime and when she does something new and it flops they will say well you should've not done this and it wouldn't have flopped. 2

Meg is coming off the tail end of nasty legal battle with her ex-label, was shot, had to deal with the entire world calling her a liar and siding with Tory, was publicly ridiculed by the biggest names in pop culture (e.g., Drake), and has been very vulnerable with her mental health struggles. Nobody expected her song to be an instant smash given the subject matter, time she spent away from the public eye, and the lack of label support. On the other hand, Nicki has been making hits for like 15 years so people have come to expect a certain level of commercial success from her. The fact that a throwaway song like LTISY makes more noise than certain rap girls' full-fledged SINGLES speaks volumes about the standard people set for Nicki.
R.E.M. Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 with that being said, we support rappers who can RAP and WRITE 2

All jokes aside, I think the issue is that Nicki kinda goes half there on the vulnerability. I think if the GP listened to LTISY they wouldn't have a clue what it's about and then with the second half of the song being a mess it just loses the whole concept she was going for, so to the GP it's just a flop song.

AdrianNicki Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 Where's that ep that she promised. Another lie from Ms. Minaj-Petty I'm afraid.
Robbyyy Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 I’m sorry but y’all tried to make LTISY a vulnerable song when she doesn’t actually talk about anything personal on that song. It’s generic as hell. Nicki hates being vulnerable because when she’s given that chance she usually generalizes the topic (TPP being the exception) & somehow throws off the audience with riddles & codes. Cobra is like if Nicki put out a song addressing her brother & husband’s allegations, & we all know she’d never do that. 3
