SFG being on the album, or a lead single, was not really obvious as she make it seems. She changes her mind too often. I'm pretty sure she refered to DWHAP as a single from her album at one point. Also I think that her shifting focus to scrapped songs is not a coincidence.

I love Nicki but I get the sense she’s too afraid to drop anything and call it a lead single because she’s afraid of how it will perform commercially - and if it bombs, the album will likely bomb too. She never called SFG a lead when it first dropped, which is why there was so much confusion. Now that SFG became a hit, she’s happy to add it to the album and call it the lead single but is it sonically going to sound like anything else on the album and does it even gel with what people expect Pink Friday 2 to be? Only time will tell.

 

And lead singles usually drum up anticipation for the album and are released 2-3 months before the album drop. And are a reflection of what to expect on the album. SFG was released a year ago. So why is she acting surprised when the Barbz are asking for a proper lead single (not a ballad and definitely not scraps) to kickstart Pink Friday 2 proper?
