needs Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 the og pink friday did kinda work with just 13 but we also have waited 5 years for this
FOCK Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 I wouldn’t mind a succinct, short album. She’s delivered plenty of material and one-off singles throughout the last few years, so it’s not as though it’s a Nicki drought. I just hope it can capture the same PF essence but also sound like a somewhat cohesive, triumphant body of work. I love how excited she is about it & how reinspired she seemed when talking about it’s creation - she doesn’t like a lot of her poppier tracks from RR, Pinkprint came at a high in her career but a low in her personal life, and she’s said she regrets putting Queen out when she did. This is the first project in a long while she’s been this genuinely enthusiastic about, has taken her time with & seems to really love.

The barbz who were around for it have the craziest nostalgia glasses on. I have 0 desire to ever play the album in full, rarely ever play any songs from it aside from 2-3 at most. Every other album she’s made has more replayability and/or better production. It honestly gives me Prism/Britney Jean/The Fame, etc vibes where yes the singles were cool but the rest is doo doo. It’s most definitely not a Renaissance/Blackout/Anti where you want to go back and listen to the singles AND the album tracks. I think this is mainly because Pink Friday has horrible production, the beats sound like they were mixed by a 15 year old in his garage. Iggy Azalea, Azealia Banks, and Doja Cat honestly had way better expensive sounding beats and they were unknown/flops compared to Nicki. It’s like she was given a 1 million dollar production budget and spent 500k on Super Bass, 100k on Your Love and Romans’s Revenge each, and split the rest on the remaining songs But I don’t expect to convince anyone otherwise, y’all love those mediocre off key ballads
KatyPrismSpirit Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 maybe standard version 13-14 tracks and digital deluxe with 5 more tracks? that would be nice
needs Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 yeah maybe you just had to be there for Pink Friday because nah
espeon Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 The next single better come next Friday, it is getting too quiet
D.Va Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 (edited) I want : 16 tracks (with Last Time I Saw You unfortunately, considering it was released so close to the album's release I don't think she will put it in a deluxe version) AND a streaming service deluxe edition with SPG, RRDS and two more tracks Leaving us with 20 tracks in total and 17 brand new songs to experience Edited October 7, 2023 by D.Va
AdrianNicki Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 The thing is, I don't trust Nicki's judgement. Most of my favourites from Nicki are actually bonus tracks: 1. Pink Friday: Super Bass is a classic and it's not even on standard version. Blow Ya Mind, Muny and Catch Me are also much better than cringe Dear Old Nicki or Check It Out or boring Save Me. Honorable mention to Massive Attack that I also really love and it wasn't even added as a bonus track. 2. Roman Reloaded: VaVaVoom is lowkey her best pop song and it's on the deluxe. Meanwhile, Sex in the Lounge is a thing for some reason. 3. The Pinkprint: Bed of Lies, Buy a Heart, The Night Is Still Young and Favourite are all filler to me. Meanwhile, Shanghai, Win Again and Truffle Butter are some of her best. Even Mona Lisa and Put You in a Room are more interesting songs. Also, she should have put Lookin Ass on her album and not on that YM compilation. 4. Barbie Tingz and Regular Degular are better than most songs on Queef. Sooooo yes. I am a little worried. 1
Alex Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 Coming back with a 13-14 track album after 5 years is an immediate statement whether intended or not. Nicki's albums are known for being on the long side so if she finally managed to give us a short and concise album after over a decade since PF1 (her last "short" project) then the expectations are going to be through the roof. I don't mind though. We just need the songs to be all excellent.
Devin Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 I’m not a fan of long albums. But if u a Nicki or SZA dropping every 3-5 years then yea we deserve 16-20 tracks. 2
Material Girl Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 maybe we should wait to see a tracklist before making assumptions 3

Alex Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 SZA squeezed in 23 songs in just over an hour's running time so we can definitely get more songs (16-18) they would just be shorter in length
mellenthin Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 Shorter songs might do Nicki wonders She always derails anyway
KKW Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 The fact that any of you are asking for a short album after 5 years of waiting for the hope of appealing to critics is beyond me 3

Robbyyy Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 So y’all want Nicki just giving us songs just because… that’s how we ended up with Too Lit or Too Late. I’d rather a concise 13-15 track album, that I could enjoy from start to finish. I’ve never enjoyed Queen in full, TPP was her best effort but even that had filler. Nicki has terrible taste, & a long album means more LTISY…

Hopefully this is her last album, in contrast to PF being her first. So I want to see her outlook on her career & where it is after 13 years.
D.Va Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 Both mindsets make sense, it's just that I highly doubt Nicki can pull of a short cohesive album. More songs can mean boring songs, but it can also mean more hidden gems like Mona Lisa or Shanghai. As Adrian said, her deluxe tracks are often better than some album tracks.
D.Va Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 I really want a Yeat feature on the album Or at least songs produced by BNYX or Bugz Ronin
