Whether SFG hits #1 or not, is it an overstatement to say that its performance is unprecedented for a woman in her genre & even impressive by most pop girl metrics?

With consideration of the phase she is in her career, the fact it’s solo & doesn’t have a video… It seems she’s embedded herself to the fabric of pop culture & galvanised such a loyal base, that even despite all the negative publicity & foolery, agism, sexism, racism, and industry efforts to undermine her at every turn, and some of her own questionable choices, she was so varied with her musicality, disciplined with her pen, smart with her contracts, meticulous with her branding… that she’ll forever be that girl. Idc.

The fact ATRL are going to try to clown her if it debuts below #1 as if they haven’t counted her out for YEARS :lmao:

”Lmao Nicki missed #1” is going to be their coping mechanism for her scoring another solo T10 smasha

It's the way the industry as a whole has been trying to take Nicki out since 2014 and she refuses to go anywhere :deadbanana4:

From smear campaigns to label execs manufacturing female rappers assembly-line style, she's still outdoing the new crop of rappers.

I mean, she's the first female rapper to become a MPG and invented the blueprint for how female rappers do business and handle their careers. Tours, endorsement deals, branding, fashion, etc. All while bouncing back from controversy time and time again. The Madonna of Hip-Hop. :cm:

the Kimberly erasure :rip: but I'll say Nicki is certainly the first rapper (male or female) to do it on such a massive scale.

You can't erase what was never written in the first place. Kim is a great MC, but her legacy is bringing about the rise of the feminine aesthetic in female rap. She never had brand deals, tours, and everything else, and she certainly wasn't a MPG competing with Christina, Britney, the Spice Girls. No one saw her as a commercial brand. Lady Marmalade was as far as she went into the pop space, and then she went to prison, so.... Nicki is the reason Cardi has endorsement deals, why Sweetie had a McDonalds meal, etc.

:rip:

Kim and Missy were the most known of all the female rappers i.e. Foxy, Eve, Queen, Trina, MCL, Salt n Pepa, etc.

Collectively, all of them never reached MPG level back then cause they Black women tryna going commercial (white dom industry) in hip hop (male dom industry).

When Nicki came out she made female rap mainstream that opened doors to girls like Iggy, Azealia, Doja, City Girls, Latto, Thee Lady and Ms Lady.

But enough of that SFG going Top 5 on BBH100? :jonny5:

Nicki remixing her own song is quite hilarious. Cover is already 100 times better.

Are you trolling? Kim definitely had brand deals and tours.

The site-wide meltdown over a few digs at Meg :rip: Even as a stan of Meg I thought it was funny/hard/a kii.

When did rappers taking shots at each other become "messy" or "shady"? :deadbanana4: God this site and its users need to get a grip.

It’s because it’s Nicki.
Plus the overwhelming majority of this site is white gays who have no idea what hip hop actually is so you really can’t take what’s said on here seriously

The way I covered my mouth and clutched my pearls listening to the remix. She had no reason to go that hard :jonny4:

Too many Atrlers are hypocrites and have a creepy hate boner for Nicki, no matter what Nicki says they respond as if she said something 10x worse. And best believe if it was Cardi or Megan making a dig at Nicki atrl would have praised them.

Let SFG breathe before dropping the album. They way #her is adding 2-3 year old songs to boost sales. Nicki is playing smart.

I just know a certain fanbase is SEETHING right now :ahh:

I personally live for the back and forth :jonny5:Nicki calling Meg an alcoholic, Meg calling Nic a fat twitter troll who needs to get in the gym, Nicki clowning her for bad album sales. Hiphop needs its edge back.

We’re they MPG tours? Can anyone name them? That’s my point. Clearly they weren’t influential or someone would remember them. I don’t care how much y’all lie: Kim was not mainstream in the way that Nicki is. I was alive back then. I remember as well as anyone.:coffee2:
