Wild Side was extremely successful given the state of pure R&B music on the radio. The song was critically acclaimed. The video was the third most popular in 2021 for an R&B artist. Of course a slow jam like Wild Side isn't going to be an immediate smash upon release - that's not how those types of songs work on the chart. Fair is a fantastic song - and since it's only going for urban contemporary radio adds, my guess is this will be a short bridge song to an uptempo release. No one else in R&B is very successful at being a huge force besides Doja Cat - who has a pop song to thank for her rise. I thought Normani was a pop artist or had the intentions of being one? Doja Cat is not an R&B artist. Edited March 23, 2022 by St. Francis

hardbrit Posted March 24, 2022 Posted March 24, 2022 She isn't going to happen. Should've released an album with MOTIVATION
hardbrit Posted March 24, 2022 Posted March 24, 2022 Why is she lip syncing everything? Doesn't help...

Lady Claire Posted March 24, 2022 Posted March 24, 2022 I still don't know why she thought this was a good idea. She's clearly not in the position to release a borefest of a song like this right now, should've been a banger with another rapper and then another banger with another rapper. Even if the song was a bop she doesn't carry the name to hold her own (twitter hype means nothing), she only lost her minimal momentum left with this In fact her career is going to waste with all that wait and subpar music. People got tired and moved on, this album will be a non-event.

Bye, it’s taking forever to even reach 100 million streams on Spotify

The song was easily one of the biggest Urban/R&B songs of 2021, I heard it almost everywhere whether I was out (bars, clubs) or even in the radio stations that I often listen too. Clearly reality doesn’t always translate to streams.

This song isn’t a hit. It’s boring. It’s not about anything in an impactful way. It’s generic. This is the outcome she deserves. She’s not Beyoncé or Rihanna. Some artists can afford to put out an oddball single & still get hype & buzz. She’s not 1 of them. This.
Olhiver Posted March 24, 2022 Posted March 24, 2022 Watching her redoing the whole album again and releasing another buzz single by next year.
MonsterTown Posted March 24, 2022 Posted March 24, 2022 the song is boring, and there is no hype or star quality about this girl.

Clearly reality doesn’t always translate to streams. It never did good on Spotify, it was already out the top 100 after the 2nd week. It did good on Apple Music & YouTube, then started falling after a few months By the time radio had put in power rotation in October, it was getting 4 million or less streams a week. It definitely underperformed streaming wise though. It had that massive debut week and never recovered from its audience reach.
Heartbreak Prince Posted March 24, 2022 Posted March 24, 2022 She definitely surrounds herself with a lot of "yes" men who have told her she is hot sh*t when she is nothing of the sort. The floppage of everything surely means she'll have to change tactics now, or just give it up. She's mediocre at best and will probably do better as a model or something.

Clearly reality doesn’t always translate to streams. It was spammed on radio non stop. I heard it a lot there you’d think it was some massive hit. I didn’t know it hasn’t hit 100 streams by the way soem people talk about it here I assumed it reached at least that but and not rumors actually achieving that. it was a radio fueled only hit. All that big radio audience yet it was nowhere to be found on the Spotify charts and I think I saw it a couple times in the lower Apple Music part but that was just at first… and again we go back to it was probably all cardi B ha power judging by the numbers of this song.
