Japan has two different certifications for digital sales and streaming in singles. Does anyone know if for albums certs they only count pure sales?

As far as I know, albums certified only for physical media (singles as well)

Fearless is platinum eligible. Speak Now is at 200,000 sales, and since Japanese certifications are based on shipments and not sales, she could get that one certified platinum too. Red can also be certified 2x platinum now. That's how a lot of these girls have so many platinum albums even with albums that flopped elsewhere.

You forgot Janet Jackson with “All For You”: 3x Platinum as well as Kylie Minogue.

It depends on how many MPG’s you want to add though, but yes.

Adele not having a platinum album there is wild. While no one can have everything, that's just very odd. Is there a particular reason? Was 21 not that big there as it was everywhere else?

Avril Is the biggest western female this century. Slay!

1989 and My Everything are the latest to get it.

It is crazy how much she seems to have made little noise there. Most of these huge eras with multiple IFPI singles scratch Japan too

It genuinely wasn’t.

“21” simply wasn’t pushed in Japan at all and the only, mildly successful single there was “Someone Like You”.

However; like you said, no one can have everything. Although it was a different time, massive western artists such as Elvis Presley, The Beatles etc. were mostly commercial non-events in Japan too (although TB have good catalog sales there).
