Both Sides Now Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 Please note: this is based on the tracking week before the movie was released in the United States. So, it’s very likely that moviegoers will buy and stream the album more in the next few weeks. It will be interesting to see how it fares as it continues to build. However, I thought it was interesting to post as it seems like it’s becoming increasingly difficult for established/legacy artists to chart as physical sales continue to shrink. We also saw that Alicia didn’t debut inside the Top 40 (albeit without physicals and during Xmas) and Xtina didn’t debut at all. Should ATRL be kinder to legacy artists’ Billboard performance? Repeat: this not a La Fuerza level disaster where the album was DOA. This album is likely to actually chart so please not flamewars.
D.M.F Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 The op continues to troll. This JLo record had physical CDs unlike Xtina’s EP (which is easily heading to Latin Platinum btw). I find it funny how the op didn’t make a thread when Mariah’s last EP failed to chart.
americanlife Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 Wow I would've expected it to at least chart. 1 minute ago, D.M.F said: The op continues to troll. simmnfierzig Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 Encanto didnt chart in its first week either

The Live Debut - 1990 It was released during the time she was doing all The Rarities stuff. I think she also had a Spanish EP release around that time with Spanish versions of her “hits” that failed to chart too.

Hun, those EPs were compilations of older recordings, and most of those MC30 EPs she did were maxi singles that weren't on digital services until then. That is not the same as Xtina's EP of brand new Latin music which was anticipated and teased for months.

Probably because 10 million people in the US already own those songs from when they were first released as part of her debut, let alone the #1's compilation and the other greatest hits records that have scanned gold

Not you loosing your **** about the op trolling but you came here to troll even harder floptina released 2 music videos with hit artists while Mariah only released an old ep that was out 30 years ago
KillingYourCareer Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 Looking at the tracks' streams, it was expected
insomniac Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 (edited) I don’t think any J.Lover was expecting this to chart, honestly. Maybe if the movie fares well, but even then I’m not expecting it… shame too as there’s some nice songs on it: Church, Love Of My Life, After Love and Nobody’s Watching are solid pop songs. Istan4R Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 Xtina and JLo not charting anymore. the bar for Britney couldn’t be any lower when she comes back
SavagePapi Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 (edited) It's always a certain base who have nothing else to do but troll because their fave is in hibernation until the end of the year. J.Lo will debut next week (and several other countries) seeing as her sales and streams have increased after the film's release in all parts of the world. She just got her biggest daily streams yesterday, and they have been increasing each day since Friday. But thanks for your concern. Edited February 14, 2022 by SavagePapi

How am I trolling when I literally said all of this! I actually wanted to draw attention to how difficult it’s become for legacy acts to even chart on BB200. I think it’s interesting for a wide discussion of that now that streaming becomes more dominant.

I think it's fairly impressive per her standards. She hasn't dropped a body of work in years, and it's incredible how well this album has held up for the past week. And right before the Super Bowl, the album reached #4 on iTunes. She still has several songs in the Top 100 of iTunes, one of which was in the Top 10 and would still be without the Super Bowl acts. She's also still Top 10 in albums as well. Which is remarkable for a soundtrack from a rom-com and during the Super Bowl weekend. We will see how the album fares this week, and when all the re-entry albums from the Super Bowl performers die out the next few days.

It’s an unusual project because it will gain steam slowly as people go to see it and possibly repeak when it is eventually released on a streaming service (or a bigger one than Peacock). I’m not sure where it will peak but I can see it being a multi-week charting album which is frankly rare for artists who debuted before 2010. 2 minutes ago, Yudelkis said: You are clearly trolling and we know all know why. But anyway, I’m interested in music charts and Jennifer is a major artist and an icon of 00s music. I think it’s interesting to see how the project will do. I don’t think that’s trolling? If I made the thread or not, it wouldn’t change the fact that it didn’t debut. My OP was pretty fair I think in explaining the circumstances of the release.

I know the rhythm isn’t natural, but damn… OT: I feel like it’s just not that big of a deal. Where’d Maluma’s last album debut? And Jennifer hasn’t had a hit album in awhile. It was to be expected. I still think it’s kind of cool that she did the soundtrack anyway.
hardbrit Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 The JLo relevancy has some bothered, and it is understandable. She is still killing it and RELEVANT! More power to her
Bey_Rihstan Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 First Xtina and now J. Lo The BB200 is whooping the '99 girls ASSes it would seem
Green Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 Upsetting. But I won’t give up. My career was built on failures and not following the mold. I won’t stop. I never have and never will. I still believe in this album. And I still will push. No matter what. https://t.co/eNh9vHXwy3 — Bebe Rexha (@BebeRexha) May 17, 2021
