TheWayWeWere Posted December 21, 2021 Posted December 21, 2021 Cruella was so surprisingly good, since I was against entire idea at first
BlackoutZone Posted December 21, 2021 Posted December 21, 2021 The graphics are so fun Love to see some AURORA love, she had better moments, but she is still great and deserves recognition Good Girls and Piece Of My Mind from second batch are my favorites, amazing songs I'm not really a movies person, but I did loved Dune a lot so I understand the 'overhymping' The shots were stunning throughout the movie, especially on IMAX

KasioKas Posted December 21, 2021 Posted December 21, 2021 15 hours ago, D/X said: 10-6 So after being a long time movie theater experience defender, I've become a full streaming stan. All movies included here are based on their digital/streaming release date, so no Eternals or No Way Home. Since COVID impacted releases and basically the whole industry, some 2020 digital releases are included here. To be honest I was expecting NOTHING from this film and I was very impressed: the production design, cinematography, performances, concept... up until that third act. I guess that's why critics were mixed, but it's not that bad. It could use a little tweaking, but technically is flawless. Not gonna lie: I did fall asleep and the glacial pacing it's definitely a problem. But the rest, once again technical, is literal artwork. Even more, that ending... my jaw dropped. I loved the concept and the execution (minus the unnecessary 2 + hours). I'm a lowkey ODH. I despised people overhyping this film and saying that it was gonna be this gen's LOTR, HP or Star Wars. LMAO. Nevertheless it was really well done, but the mesianic story came very late (specially being over fucking paprika). And the gazillion weird ass names thrown at your face under the first 4 minutes and for the rest of the 2 hours was annoying. Yet here it is. Flawless production design, makeup, and Queen Emma was perfect. The story was kinda ridiculous but overall it was cute. Oh, and that SOUNDTRACK. This is one of those 2020 or something films included in this list. I was very surprised at the high concept for such a relatively "unknown" film, and how it blended dark comedy with full-blown drama. Love this type of hidden sci fi gems. Text-Friendly Version: #10. Last Night In Soho #09. The Green Knight #08. Dune #07. Cruella #06. Synchronic Wanna watch last night but keep thinking it might be horror or have jump scares and I don't need that lol Dune was just... okay... The actress who played Timothy's mother acted circles around EVERYONE, that's the one thing I remember Cruella was alright, enjoyed it more than I thought I would, the fashion was cool
Moonlightbae Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 glad to see I'm not the only one who started recently! the graphics are a massive serve already We're Good is my fave from the songs so far! Didn't watch a lot of TV/Movies this year so I'll have to check some of these! Squid Game was good tho.
Remmy Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 Heard of #10-8 but I don't think they're something I would enjoy Cruella yesss Definitely a bit ridiculous and very camp but it's SO fun and easily Disney's best live action adaptation. Both Emmas devoured and did what they needed to do
Mr. Loco Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 Cruella was great, but Glenn's Cruella >>>>>>>>>> I love Dev, but TGK felt like a mess and a half Last night in Soho was just okay

Yeah the Cruella soundtrack truly elevated the film. 19 hours ago, TalkThatRihanna said: Hmm I don’t know any of these. You know Disney can be a hit or miss with their remakes but this one gladly was good. 16 hours ago, BlackoutZone said: The graphics are so fun Love to see some AURORA love, she had better moments, but she is still great and deserves recognition Good Girls and Piece Of My Mind from second batch are my favorites, amazing songs I'm not really a movies person, but I did loved Dune a lot so I understand the 'overhymping' The shots were stunning throughout the movie, especially on IMAX Thanks! Nothing too scary but there's definitely jumpscares. Yeah agree that performances were not that much stellar there sans Jessica, i believe that was the character's name. 8 hours ago, Moonlightbae said: glad to see I'm not the only one who started recently! the graphics are a massive serve already We're Good is my fave from the songs so far! D/X Posted December 22, 2021 Author Posted December 22, 2021 3 Halfway through! 30-21 Now I'm seriously CONCERNED about this set. Feel free to just comment the Mariah Carey GIF and that's it! Here's for you to copy it: Alt-J surprisingly returned to a mix between the styles they had in their previous albums, and while not their best, it's a very solid track. Yet another surprising return! LOVED this track and the rock energy it has. Second and last appearance from CHVRCHES. Once again, another powerful song, both in lyrics and sound. Another gen-z cute discovery with a lofi sound. Sorry, ANOTHER gen-Z discovery. I think she went TikTok viral, but this was my proper introduction to her. A very haunting song that feels nostalgic. Perhaps one of the best discoveries this year. This man might look bland and cute but he actually has some unique dreamy pop proposal. Alt rock at its finest with a touch of 90's grunge. Perhaps this song might be used as a stab to those artist that exploit mental health issues for attention... or it might follow the extremely depressing lyrics that could be read as a career suicide note. Glass Animals had an AMAZING year. It's been years since I've lowkey liked their songs but this one is a career standout. The whole storytelling behind that title is very original. The Marías delivering yet another sexy bop to dance to. Text-Friendly Version: #30. Alt-J - "U&ME" #29. Spoon - "The Hardest Cut" #28. CHVRCHES - "He Said She Said" #27. Morgen - "Odd One Out" #26. BENEE - "Happens To Me" #25. Still Woozy - "Rocky" #24. Bachelor - "Stay In The Car" #23. Sir Sly - "Welcomes The Pressure" #22. Glass Animals - "Space Ghost Coast To Coast" #21. The Marías - "Un Millón"
D/X Posted December 22, 2021 Author Posted December 22, 2021 5-1 The first list to be finished! And Germany delivering with QUALITY Perhaps the biggest surprise for me this year. Not a fan of cartoon series, specially with this particular style, and yet I was emotional and shocked at that finale. This is how you get inspired by real-life events and confuse people to ask themselves if this was real or not. Plus the story is so frustrating and despite being half fiction, you know this is the kind of shit that happens with big companies. The way I become obsessed with this series. Really blew me away in every single aspect. The originality and comedy is on point. But more than anything, the way Moritz is an UNHINGED psychopath and clear parody of this Silicon Valley entrepreneurs is genius. The actor deserves an Emmy cause he was REALLY good. What a finale for a series. Another surprise! Tbh I wasn't planning in watching this because I'm not a fan of Steve Martin, yet this has to be the best he's been in his career. Having been a long time catholic, this spoke to me very closely and I was HAUNTED by how genius Mike Flanagan could relate Holy Saturday to horror and to... well if you seen it you know. Minus the long ass pretentious monologues, this is Netflix top tier quality. Text-Friendly Version: #05. Invincible - Season 1 #04. The Billion Dollar Code #03. How To Sell Drugs Online (Fast) - Season 3 #02. Only Murders In The Building - Season 1 #01. Midnight Mass

Lazuli Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 U&ME is a cute comeback for alt-j! not he said she said being your highest chvrhces song tho
BlackoutZone Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 HAPPEN TO ME MEGA taste, whole Benee album was charming and I come back to it often, but Happen To Me or Same Effects are massive highlights Cute CHVRCHES pick too
TheWayWeWere Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 for music update Only Murders is cute, I guess, I like the energy and it's such a light watch for me
Mr. Blue_Shirt Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 The design looks good Be Sweet, Good Girls, Locust Laced, He Said She Said praise wow I didn't know Broods & Alt-J release music this year I feel like dicovered music & new artists this year that i forgot some of the artist that i like mess nnn I feel like i want to listen to BENEE's music. After her massive viral song last year, i didn't have any interest in her before --- Wandavision, Invincible & Squid Game (i agree with the ending) acclaim YES I haven't watched Locke & Key new season but season 1 is actually good. Also i haven't watch Only Murders In The Building but after i've seen many acclaims from the critics and award show, now i'm curious --- The Green Knight is soo good i've seen mutliple times already
McNulty Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 (edited) I kinda agree with you on Succession but the last 3 episodes were serving HARD Wandavision was easily the best Marvel show this year even tho I hated the last two episodes Invincible is incredible, one of the best animation I have ever seen Only Murders In The Building was good, Steve Martin and Martin Short carried the show honestly. Midnight Mass has been on my watchlist for a while, I'll probably gonna watch it soon ----- on the movies side: Last Night In Soho & Cruella were fun, Dune is probably one of my top 3 movies this year so far I didn't like The Green Knight, I found it incredibly boring Ps: I love your banners and the amazing graphics Edited December 22, 2021 by McNulty
