Before this year I had rarely heard about this artist, many people did start to talk about her acclaimed sophomore album though. What really made me listen was Taylor's Red (TV) tracklist announcement which featured this artist. So you can probably guess who it is. Phoebe Bridgers Stranger in the Alps | Punisher side projects boygenius | Better Oblivion Community Center | Copycat Killer Phoebe's sad girl approach massively stuck out to me. As I love that stuff, hence why I listen to Lana, Lorde, Taylor... I was a bit skeptical getting into her music as I feared it may have replicated Clairo's Sling, but I was so wrong. Her debut album is superb, every track is a standout and emotionally drained me. Her sophomore album is even better, which I didn't think was possible. Words cannot describe how amazing these two albums are. Standout Tracks You Should Hear: Funeral (from Stranger in the Alps) Scott Street (from Stranger in the Alps) You Missed My Heart (from Stranger in the Alps) Me & My Dog (from boygenius) Salt in the Wound (from boygenius) Saviour Complex (from Punisher) Moon Song (from Punisher) I Know The End (from Punisher) Olivia Rodrigo SOUR Now of course we have to add Olivia in here, she made an impact this year. Many people may see her as an over-rated industry plant But despite that I still love her music and can't wait to see where she goes from here. Standouts include: jealousy jealousy, 1 step forwards, 3 steps back & enough for you Halsey Badlands | hopeless fountain kingdom Manic | If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power I'm a bit of a fraud when it comes to Halsey, as I have only heard Manic and IICHLIWP. Halsey really delivered with IICHLIWP, which also delivered a film with spectacular visuals. Despite this, these two are both excellent albums and I hope to dive into their first two very soon as they are very talented. Standouts include: 3am, Easier Than Lying & You asked for this ELIO u and me, but mostly me | Can You Hear Me Now? Again, I'm a fraud. I have only heard CYHMN, hence why ELIO cannot be BNA along with Halsey. Can You Hear Me Now is an excellent EP though, some tracks feeling in vein of Charli XCX Standouts include: Jackie Onassis, When U Saw Love & hurts 2 hate somebody and last but not least... Zella Day Kicker | Where Does The Devil Hide? Fraud, exposed. I only listened to WDTDH, but it was too good so Zella has to be an HM I could write a 1000 word essay on how excellent Only A Dream is, it scarred me emotionally. The 3 singles she released in 2021 are also very promising and I look forward to her sophomore album.
