dreamofyou Posted December 11, 2021 Posted December 11, 2021 the lorde slander everywhere this year i can't the cruel summer sample definitely saved deja vu
TalkThatRihanna Posted December 11, 2021 Posted December 11, 2021 Poster Girl & Deja Vu are great picks. On my Top 50 list too
Mr. Blue_Shirt Posted December 11, 2021 Posted December 11, 2021 I think i'm the only one didn't feel Deja Vu nnn but yes Fallen Fruit truly is one of the standout from the album Also yes @ On A Mountain acclaim. the song is heavenly. I was shocked that Lauren is the one who sang Interlocked since her voice is so unrecognaizable. I thought it was Charli XCX i- --- Bicycle praise?? but-now-we-said-it.gif Easy is one of my favorite singles this year and F.I.L.A? please someone put it in The Louvre
worldwide angel Posted December 12, 2021 Posted December 12, 2021 madison, zara, dua, olivia, lorde and danny elton
taemin Posted December 12, 2021 Posted December 12, 2021 WJSN The Black and WayV I never cared about WayV but Kick Back was the best title a NCT group released this year imo
luckystrike Posted December 12, 2021 Posted December 12, 2021 luv seeing Zara at least in the HMs love deja vu Fallen Fruit one of the better songs on Solar Powder truly Bicycle is a collapse, also the TWICE song was cute but I totally forgot to listen to that album again dddd
Sanguine Posted December 12, 2021 Posted December 12, 2021 Sexy Villain yess. One of my least favorites on the album ngl, I prefer the kookier songs but it's still really good and I love to see Remi on these lists Deja Vu IS absolutely her best song. She should keep ripping off other artists if it's gonna give us her best material I like all of the K-Pop songs too! But um you LIED about Everglow, Pirate was a banger! Might just be my soft spot for how Kesha'd it sounds tho
TheWayWeWere Posted December 12, 2021 Posted December 12, 2021 Deja Vu is low-key the best song from Olivia
ATRL Moderator Legend E Posted December 12, 2021 ATRL Moderator Posted December 12, 2021 Glad I can only comment on the Pop list, unless include Sunmi in the K-Pop list SP deserves a bit more love. It's her worst album, but I still think it's quite good. FF is definitely a highlight!
Moonlightbae Posted December 12, 2021 Posted December 12, 2021 Default I guess i'm not objective when it comes to Zara but Poster Girl was a good album imo and the title track is a smash All the Time and DWBM were obviously the highlights of the album if they were on it but there are still amazing songs and it's already an upgrade from So Good. Fallen Fruit and deja vu I will check out the rest
Lazuli Posted December 12, 2021 Posted December 12, 2021 fallen fruit praise deja vu is olivia's best song twice served kylie minogue on FILA bicycle is a trashy bop yes
Tom Vercetti Posted December 12, 2021 Posted December 12, 2021 The Path or Fallen Fruit were standouts on SP but even those aren't really top tier Lorde songs. I hope she becomes good again.
BlackoutZone Posted December 12, 2021 Author Posted December 12, 2021 Only just now that it started I once again realized how much time whole Best Of section takes daily so all the comments are very appreciated Spoiler On 12/11/2021 at 8:47 PM, Mr. Loco said: Cold heart Dua and Elton did that! Would love to see it on your list too On 12/11/2021 at 8:53 PM, Enigmanotta said: If Olivia and Lorde make other appearances any higher, we're gonna have a problem, but I have to agree those songs are cute. I'm surprised to find Bicycle here, I almost forgot (for the better) that Querencia was released this year. I actually enjoy FILA despite not very feeling any of TWICE's latest releases, but it could've been better. It deserves its spot, though. I can save you from jumpscare - they won't I didn't know you're not feeling Formula of Love On 12/11/2021 at 8:54 PM, dangerousalex said: Sexy Villain dskjjkdsjkdsjksd YES OH you stan too?? Taste On 12/11/2021 at 8:59 PM, Modus said: Lorde panned everywhere SP would be a cute EP with 5 tracks, I feel like everyone would agree with this statement. Danny is so talented, dying to hear what he's creating with Dua! I see Maty Noyes name here on ATRL but I had never checked her properly. The one you mentioned is cute I'm predicting Billie is coming in the next 10-15 positions. Yup I agree, SP would not receive as much panning if it was just a cute EP Bitch yes, I have no idea what sound in his mind would fit Dua, but I trust him Maty is just cute, she is kinda giving random Spotify artist, but I liked her pop bops On 12/11/2021 at 9:01 PM, dreamofyou said: the lorde slander everywhere this year i can't the cruel summer sample definitely saved deja vu Nn sorry On 12/11/2021 at 9:20 PM, gagacasanova said: Demeanor, Cold Heart and Deja vu 23 hours ago, JGibson said: Fallen Fruit + deja vu 23 hours ago, TalkThatRihanna said: Poster Girl & Deja Vu are great picks. I think it's her most interesting song sonically too Yes lmao I think Harlecore was originally much more poppy before he remixed it into one big rave that kind of got lost. On a Mountain is a stand out tho fully Right? I trashed it too at first, but it's a fucking banger Period 21 hours ago, worldwide angel said: madison, zara, dua, olivia, lorde and danny elton We ignore Elton, all the praise goes to Dua! 20 hours ago, diogozsz said: WJSN The Black and WayV I never cared about WayV but Kick Back was the best title a NCT group released this year imo Bitch my exact thoughts, I always thought 127 and DREAM are the strongest units of NCT, but this year NCT's best title by far belongs to WayV - meanwhile Sticker is fucking garbage 20 hours ago, Sempiternal said: Twice <3 And on the HM Madison & Zara Stan 20 hours ago, luckystrike said: luv seeing Zara at least in the HMs love deja vu Fallen Fruit one of the better songs on Solar Powder truly Bicycle is a collapse, also the TWICE song was cute but I totally forgot to listen to that album again dddd Love Me Land topped your last Best Of didn't it? I expect some Zara flooding again NN not Solar Powder, let's leave it in the dust. Formula of Love is really cute, a lot of stand outs for me overall 20 hours ago, Sanguine said: Sexy Villain yess. Might just be my soft spot for how Kesha'd it sounds tho I need to revisit the album, Sexy Villain was just a song that got me hooked so easily and the deep cuts might need time. Spill, maybe Olivia is the singer-songwriter'd Ava Max or something idk Pirate is definitely FAR better than First, but it's not eligible for this year on my ranking so let me see if it appears next year 17 hours ago, TheWayWeWere said: Deja Vu is low-key the best song from Olivia HIGH-KEY! 15 hours ago, Legend E said: Glad I can only comment on the Pop list, unless include Sunmi in the K-Pop list SP deserves a bit more love. Fallen Fruit and deja vu I will check out the rest It was an improvement for Zara yes, but the droplet era showed she is capable of much MORE. So let's hope ZL4 arrives one day and it's gonna be even better. Definitely check California Palms or even whole Maty album, she has really easy cute bops 8 hours ago, Lazuli said: fallen fruit praise deja vu is olivia's best song twice served kylie minogue on FILA bicycle is a trashy bop yes Kylie was threatened! BlackoutZone Posted December 12, 2021 Author Posted December 12, 2021 So the general consensus is that Chemtrails has much better highlights isn't it? Honestly I found Thunder to be the best of both projects and after hearing the already great demo through the years I loved to see how she polished it and properly improved. She is always randomly dropping something and it always tickles my taste buds just enough to appear here. Amazing song, just like iamamiwhoami was doing it in the old days. Another girlie who randomly comes with a new light song once in a while lately and I always find it just good enough to replay it throughout the year, especially one like 2021. Hope we get another album soon though. Mitski in her sellout era... and I support that! This is just great synth-pop/new-wave banger. Working for a Knife is rally great too, but I support the change of sound and pace she brought here lots! Love me a good, not half-assed reissue that brings remastered songs, previously vaulted outtakes and unexpectedly reimagined classics, but modern day producers. MNEK did an amazing job remixing one of my favorites from this iconic album and truly giving it a new life.
BlackoutZone Posted December 12, 2021 Author Posted December 12, 2021 The best part of NCT having shitloads of units and releases all the time is that I'm always sure to find at least one hidden gem somewhere between these walls of noise. This year brought this little b-sides with catchy melody and amazing, slick production. I was anticipating this whole album so much, the teasers were fantastic, the visuals ate, the sound was promising and thankfully they did not disappoint. The song felt a bit disjointed at first, but it was a perfect title choice and the album offers many cool b-sides, especially CODE. Such an easy breezy summer bop. I usually dislike vacation comebacks/concepts, they usually sound basic and cheap, but We Go just works! Super cute. It would not be a BlackoutZone K-pop list without LOONA and trust me it really gets harder as the years go by... Thankfully when Korean releases disappoint, here comes that Japanese banger! I had high expectations for so-called "City Pop version" of this that also came out, but sadly it was shit and pretty much nothing like the genre. As I mentioned, WJSN snapped this year hard. Yalla feels like an upgraded version of their already amazing b-side from last year - Pantomime. I was debating between putting this or New Me, but in all honesty you should just check whole UNNATURAL mini asap, it's great.
Enigmanotta Posted December 12, 2021 Posted December 12, 2021 (edited) Close to being a 5 out of 5 in both categories! Maybe I'll finally give in someday and listen to NCT and its 47 subunits. Can't say the same about Sugabombs. Edited December 12, 2021 by Enigmanotta
bestfiction Posted December 12, 2021 Posted December 12, 2021 Star Seed > Hula Hoop lowkey but kii, agree that it's harded for them to stand out with each year unfortunately Fallen Fruit is probably the best song from Solar Power but it's still quite drab, not on par with even the weaker cuts on Melodrama or even PH. She needs to get herself together Deja Vu is 100% Olivia's best song
Sanguine Posted December 12, 2021 Posted December 12, 2021 Love The Only Heartbreaker, hated it at first but it really hit me. Interested to see how the album turns out Great K-Pop choices again, especially WJSN they really served this year
TalkThatRihanna Posted December 12, 2021 Posted December 12, 2021 I don’t know any of these songs I fear
