Hmm idk any of these, lemme listen to the ABBA one...

I really like it :jonny: A beautiful song and sounds like a classic from the 80s :clap3:

Secrets (Your Fire) is an excellent song :WAP:

Milk is cute too!

Kiss of Life top 10 :jonny: DISCO AT ITS BEST

entire Blue Weekend is perfection, but amazing pick :clap3:

Allie :clap3: I need to revisit the deluxe tracks though nnn, I kinda paid them dust because I was rushing to check out albums/EPs so they'd be on my list in time for Best Of. Limited Love is the only one I really remember. Peeked at several ABBA songs out of curiosity and I don't feel like anything was impressive :noparty: Not surprised to see Kiss of Life this high, you've mentioned it twice in my thread within the past 24 hours :oh: Never even listened to it until now... I'd prefer a Jessie solo version :fan: Secrets (Your Fire) yes yes yesss :sats: Yet another #MagBaySlay

Kiss of Life and Don't Shut Me Down :jonny4:perfect songs

don't shut me down was a perfect comeback single for ABBA. it's just so them:jonny5:

i need to listen to kiss of life

Ofc Dua was gonna be on the official list, whoever thought otherwise is foolish! Cute pick. 24 Hours, us both mentioning Release Me fnlksdhfkldhgfldkh. It's a bop! Dua and Jessie (and Roisin... and Kylie... and etc etc) found barely even noticing an aftershock tho from her.

Great Adele pick. That last minute is insane. Jessie potentially going down the route of Eyes Closed for the next album WHEW. So excited to see what she decided to end up doing with the next record then. I WILL be stanning (she better tour the fuckin states tho before moving on).

Kiss of Life, birthed us gays, yup. We don't deserve them. WOW I should have just copy/pasted your write-up's last sentence for Lipstick on the Glass. Absolutely same. Secrets (Your Fire) is a fantaaaaastic pick from a FLAWLESS album! And that is the CORRECT ABBA pick babes!

That Kind Of Woman (and love the future nostalgia font of your graphics), Jackie Onasis (I also discovered ELIO through Charger remix and it is a solid album), Eyes Closed, Milk, Kiss of Life, Don’t Shut Me Down  :clap3:

Posted

To Be Loved placing that high with lesser month of exposure :clap3: Happier Than Ever deserves better :gayriahcat1:

kiss of life, especially that VIDEO, is just perfect

lipstick of the glass is the appropriate choice, but you could do no wrong with most other song choices tbh :clap3:

Last batch y'all, we made it! Thank YOU!

You absolutely chose the right Blue Weekend song, she's a gospel singer and that is her field

Secrets (Your Fire) is so catchy and immaculately produced. Perfect groovy pop song :smitten:

Fell more validated thanks bestie!

This one is a strong contender to make my Top 100. I haven't listened to it many times, but I agree with your comment on it being a stand-out pick off the record.

I've seen the album already made it so hopefully the song does too!

Yeah I've seen you kinda slept on Cape God Deluxe, it's so surprising how people seemed divided on it, but if you go back to the Deluxe album thread a lot of people went on to appreaciate the deluxe songs more later.  I get it, ABBA in 2021 is not for everyone, you can tell their style was touched by the time too.

SKSK DRAG ME :jonny2: I really did, but both song and video are great!

Exactly like, it's just their classic sound and it works so well even in 2021 :biggrin2:

But actually imagine Agnes doing some little tour for Magic Still Exists and reworking Release Me as a disco song! I would GAG! But yes 24 Hours is still not really on their level, but of course she was working with her small circle of friends so the results are great from what it is!

Mega taste and you pretty much confirmed it all with your recent best of batches so I stan hard! :jonny:

Easy On Me was definitely not my favorite pick from the album so To Be Loved destroyed it!

I'm not really a fan of Billie overall so HTE got pretty high on its own!

I've been super into Aly & AJ ever since they made a comeback with Take Me and everything they put out since then was excellent so it was natural my expectations for the actual full length album material were super high. Thankfully they crushed it! ATOTBGYUOYFGYOATITS (whew!) is just superb. They stepped up from already great synthpop production and introduced some warm and cozy indie/alt influences that elevated their music. Listen!!! in particular blew me away with those gorgeous guitars and raw percussion. Wish these 2 talented icons would get more spotlight for this amazing project.

Pang was my completely unexpected AOTY of 2019 and I was both excited and scared for Caroline's next step. Bunny Is A Rider was definitely not something I expected. On first glance it doesn't seem like a huge departure from the Danny L Harle and Daniel Nigro curated Pang sound, but at the same time it's so different and fresh. The production is so quirky and fun, but it's a jam full of uncertainty. It's Caroline's only offering this year, but it sure left a lasting impact and I'm patiently waiting for more with Bunny hopping on my speakers.

Side note - it's also my most played song of the year with over 200 spins.

To Be Loved already made its appearance earlier, but I could not leave 30 in the past without honoring My Little Love. It's a track that hits me especially hard since I've been a big Adele fan and follower for more a decade now and as much as I've always felt she is one of the most open and down to earth mainstream artists, she's never been so vulnerable with us before. This song is just a lot to take, she puts an emotional weight on a listener with those lyrics, those vocals and especially those voice notes of her son or in the outro - of her own self, breaking down, showing us her struggles. Never expected her to strip herself so much. The heavy, intense, cinematic instrumentation elevates the atmosphere even more, adore the strings in the chorus. Flawless song, probably my favorite from her yet.

No idea what happened to Foxes during the lockdown, but lord thanks for that. After she decided to finally make a long awaited comeback with a streak of so-so singles that ended up on a very mediocre EP, the hopes of Louisa ever coming back to her Glorious (literally) days seemed buried. But then she suddenly came back again with this damn POP PERFECTION! This. Shit. Fucking. Slaps! Sister Ray is an absolutely bombastic electronic pop thrill encapsulating the longing for fun and freedom in these though times. Expect more appearances from her next year as The Kick arrives in February.

and my Song of The Year goes to...

It could not be any other song, Dua absolutely revolutionized the music industry with this forwarding thinking masterpiece.

For many people it was too ahead of its time sadly :monkey:

but on more serious note..

All the while, I'll await my armored fate with a smile
Still wanna try, still believe in
Good days

It feels illegal to honor 2021 with a song that came out last year, but what can I say - 2020 was just too damn good, even on its last days it made sure to end things on a high note and give us a single that made an impact on the entirety of 2021. I love everything about this track. It sounds mythical and soothing. When I put my headphones on I feel invited by SZA to her own private garden of peace and tranquility. It's an oasis I can escape to when current world state puts too much weight on me. CTRL, Z, S and hell even See.SZA.Run were all already great and we knew SZA is capable of magic, but Good Days takes things to an upper level again and if that's any indicator of a full album (if we ever get one, lord knows with her) she has AOTY locked! I also have to note the impact of insanely talent Jacob Collier who without a doubt is a heart and soul of Good Days just as much as SZA. His one of a kind heavy vocal layering, ad libs, harmonies and overall background vocal enchantments are transcendental. Hope to see that duo in action again in the future

Let's all dive into this classic once again and step into 2022 with hopes for good days coming for us all...

Thank you  :heart2:

Bitch you really got me with that #1, I was ready to drag :deadbanana:

But your real #1 IS IT! It may or may not be extremely high on my list as well :gaycat1: Your write up on GD is 100% accurate :jonny:

I think I would like MLL more if there was a more friendly sounding version to play “as a single”, outside of the Album

WHEW almost had me with there :bibliahh:

your top 2 is excellent. love both of these excellent songs and they deserve all the praise and acclaim! :clap3:

There's a rumour going round the Kelela base that Bunny Is a Rider is a rider and satellite can't find her. not sure if true, how ****ed up though

Naur why was I actually fooled with the Not My Problem soty :skull: thankfully Good Days is a perfect pick for SOTY even though it's straight up cheating :jonny: have so many memories with that song. also hope we agree that the first version > the new one

Your top 5 is AMAZING. LOVE listen, bunny is a rider, sister ray :jonny5: that not my problem prank scared me for a moment, but good days is such a good pick

A great list overall and a perfect #1 :clap3:

LMAO wait cause I completely erased this from my mind :bibliahh: The new version fucking sucks, Im so glad I saved and downloaded the song right after the release and sticked with it. The fact people complained about fucked up mixing when it was great and the bled of sound layers gave the song even better psychedelic feel meanwhile the new one is muffled, flatter and her vocals sound rougher? A big misstep I'm glad I forgot, she should have ignored the fans and stick to artistic integrity.
