GentleDance Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Christina Aguilera - Bionic : Surprisingly pretty good
GentleDance Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Christina Aguilera - Masochist : First time listening to this, liked it!
GentleDance Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 PJ Harvey - The Words That Maketh Murder : Great pick, loved it
GentleDance Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Madonna - Unapologetic Bitch : Cute, will claim some points
smholiv Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Group A Critiques (Part Three) Robyn - Baby Forgive Me: Have I heard this somewhere? A clothing store like Zara perhaps? I'm not a big fan of Robyn's music, but this is an interesting listen and probably one of the best songs I've heard off this album. It's a little background music (like I said clothing store soundtrack) but I might give it a couple points. Kylie Minogue - Million Miles: I've been exploring a couple of Kylie's key singles/songs these past few days and there are definite CLASSICS among them. However, this really feels so removed from some of the spectacular stuff she has (especially on Fever or Body Language). This really could be done by anyone. Like I could see this being the 8th track on five different pop albums from this time period. Janet Jackson - Night: This is fun and vibey. I wouldn't mind her pursuing this sound more in the modern day. It's definitely not on the level of some of her GREATS (especially the '90s stuff) but it does its job. I think the production is the best part - I sort of wish her vocal performance was a bit more stylized like she usually does. At times it feels a bit flat. Annie - Hold On: Love the production here. It feels really bright and fresh. I like it when artists take a "retro" style and modernize it. Brandy - Slower: This album is honestly kind of great This is a great example of it. In a lot of ways this takes the artistry she had on albums like Full Moon or Afrodisiac, or at least the mindset she had with those albums. It's pretty much an example of what she does best.
Auburn Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Sia - Eye of the Needle I just find her voice so incredibly grating, but it's not absolutely terrible I guess
Auburn Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Cher - Waterloo well, this is quite a bop I must say, but will it get any points... hmmm
Auburn Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Cher - The Winner Takes It All this is great, I never get tired of her beautiful husky voice
smholiv Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Group A Critiques (Part Four) Tegan and Sara - U-Turn: Wait this is fun! I find them a bit hit-or-miss but this is enjoyable. It's breezy and cute and I could listen to this again. No Doubt - Push And Shove: Idk... I'm kind of undecided? I feel like this is one of the best later career No Doubt songs but the bar is kind of low there. Something about them just doesn't translate well in the '10s/'20s... like their earlier material is visibly great, but newer music just doesn't click anymore. That being said I didn't dislike this or anything so.. yeah. Enjoy this meaningless critique I guess! Mariah Carey - 8th Grade: You GOT the assignment yuppp. Absolutely stunning. It's a testament to Mariah really understanding what she does best with Caution that a song like this is (possibly) one of her BEST for the entire 21st century. It captures everything we love about Mariah but doesn't dwell in the past. Fiona Apple - Valentine: very cool and interesting. Janet Jackson - The Great Forever: I feel like this needed to be a TOUCH faster to get that extra push.
Auburn Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Mary J. Blige - Doubt exactly, she did that a vocaliste
Auburn Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Fiona Apple - Every Single Night whewwww, the way this opened the album like she really SNAPPED
Auburn Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Madonna - Beautiful Killer it's not excellent, it is from her worst album but this is one of the better tracks I think was Love Spent already banned or something?
Auburn Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Kylie Minogue & Enrique Iglesias - Beautiful now this just pisses me off, this is literally the WORST song on the album
Auburn Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Kylie Minogue - Million Miles goddd this is so perfect
Sanguine Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 (edited) Sia - Eye of the Needle: You had way better options from her, but this song is decent Edited June 30, 2021 by Sanguine
Auburn Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Janet Jackson - Night my last.fm says I've played this song 247 times, so you can draw your own conclusions from that
Auburn Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Annie - Hold On this is nice and breezy, but you've got some strong competitors
Sanguine Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Cher - Waterloo: Quite boring for how upbeat and fun it is
Auburn Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Tegan and Sara - U-turn not bad not bad, it might be on the cusp
Sanguine Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Britney Spears - Inside Out: Really overrated, probably the worst song on the album
