A #1 is a #1.

There can be a weak #1, but not a flop #1.

A "flop number one" is an oxymoron.

Using that logic makes you a moron.

Taylor with two on the list :rip: I seriously don’t understand why she wanted those #1s so badly when the albums were already smashes. Made her look desperate, especially with Willow

Honestly, all the average person will ever see is that they were #1 hits and that they’re on quite successful albums. Only those of us with an eye to the charts will be able to tell that they weren’t particularly huge in the long term. This list means a lot more to engaged fans than to the general public; it’s more or less just some cool trivia.

@Green - could you share the methodology on this? Is it just an inverse points system? I have absolutely no doubt about the contents, I’m just intrigued by the stats!

Still will never forget when Willow was immediately discounted to .69¢ soon as it was released snd every single day from then a new version was being released along with being discounted.

The list was posted by Tanooki from TOTC and it's based on the methodology used by Billboard for their All-time list. He/she updates the list weekly.

I wonder what is #11 since drake will likely fall off.

Also, not 8 of the 10 coming during the pandemic.

The scams of it all. #1 peaking song not #1 HIT songs

Not when some of these spend like 3-4 weeks on the chart overall and don't/barely reach Platinum eligibility.

I am only advocating for the better term to use and I am not disagreeing that some of those songs were disappointing chart-wise.

To quote myself, there can be a weak #1, but not a flop #1.

They were somehow the biggest song at some point for them to have reached the summit.

Even though their power dwindled afterwards, we cannot call them a flop, because a "flop number one" is literally an oxymoron.

A #1 is a #1 but of varying degrees.

14. Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande - Rain On Me (2020)

I thought this was a smash hit by lady gaga

Why is it in the list of flop #1s barely below frontloaded flop willow?

Pointless. What will matter at the end of the day is the total of streams etc, not the number of weeks inside the Hot 100/peak; otherwise, according to your logic, Lovely is a big flop.

Willow was getting 4 million streams a week...

You're comparing it to "Lovely", Willow wont anywhere be that type of song lol
