If ITO goes #1 next week:

  • Chance the Rapper will get his first #1.
  • DJ Khaled will get his first #1.
  • Quavo will get his first #1 as a solo artist.
  • Lil Wayne will get his third #1. He last got there almost 8 years ago.
  • Justin Bieber will get his second #1 debut, sixth top 2 debut.

A little bit of history

And then there was another more recent double-top 5 debut, Sorry at #2 and Hello at #1 at the end of 2015!

i don't think baby even went top 5

edit: it peaked at #5. boyfriend and cold water were both blocked at #2

It went top 5 on the album release week, I think.

It would have easily gone #1 with the current formula. The video was huge. For the wrong reasons, but still.

Edit: Oh, it debuted at #5. Okay.

THe fact that y'all think the Khaled track is debuting at number one solely because of Bieber :rip:

Mess, I'm a huge fan of Chance and don't even like Bieber but there's no denying this is his (Justin's) power.  Khaled just worked with Beyonce and Jay and peaked at 57.  Migos is doing nothing for Katy.  Wayne hasn't had a hit in years.

No it's not.

I can't believe people are so stupid to think Despacito and I'm The One are successful SOLELY because of Justin Bieber. :rip: Can people please use their brains? I'm sorry but it's genuinely stupid to think that.

I'm The One could've easily been a top 10 hit if it was Kent Jones singing the chorus. Despacito could've easily been going top 10 if the remix had Enrique Iglesias and Sean Paul on it.

And Despacito owes even more to Bieber.  If Enrique and Sean Paul were on it, the preteen girls who control iTunes + YouTube streams would not have tuned in.

It is silly to say he's solely the reason (I haven't seen that. Just people being VERY dramatically defensive at anyone who notes Bieber is the main player in both songs - solely or not) To deny his influence is more stupid though. I don't think ITO would be holding atop iTunes without Bieber/Kent Jones instead. Same for Despacito. I think they might've still did something, but he was sought after for a reason too.

It's easy to say "oh if Kesha sang BA instead it'd be a hit" and similar to stuff like that, just replacing who would sound just as good doesn't equate to similar response. It's a really baseless crutch to use that doesn't push the debate anywhere.

Ed almost did with  Castle at 6 and Shape at 1

My point still stands, the streaming power came from the rappers. If it was just Bieber on it there's no chance in hell it would be debuting at number one. :cm:

I would argue against this, but I get your point.

Not when Justin has more top 2 debuts than almost anyone...debuting in the top 2 is normal for him.

Bieber is one of the biggest streaming artists in the world... In 2016, Bieber was the second most streamed artist in the world on Spotify  :cm:

Bieber has already debuted at #1, #2 twice, and #4 on Hot 100 since 2015 with 3 of those being solo tracks from Purpose. None of other artists on I'm The One have :cm:

Isn't it weird how I've only heard 5 of the top 10 songs on radio? Humble has been non-existant here, a shame.

If you only listen to one type of radio station than that's why. Humble is #27 overall on radio with over 55M audience impressions. It gained over 2M alone today. It's far from non-existent.

What Urban radio stations do you listen to? I'd love to look them up because I guarantee they've played it. It's the 4th most played song on that format currently. It's becoming impossible to avoid it on those stations. It's even gaining the most spins and audience everyday:lmao:

It's also #8 on Rhythmic stations with the second highest spin increase and highest audience increase today.

And it just started charting on Pop radio a few days ago.

Anyways I'm so pumped to see Bieber with 2 top 3 songs next week and a #1 debut :duca:

How are you getting BA at #66? I feel like it will be much lower. Streams are so important now and it didn't get much. Only 16k and almost no radio. Wouldn't that make it more around the 90-100 zone?

It's impressive that Justin went from no having #1 pre-2015 to have 4, maybe 5 in less than 2 years :deadbanana:
