With like 3 million songs released. Had Rihanna kept the same pace of spam-level releases, she'd probably be at 500+ weeks by now. :dies:

No, she wouldn't. If she had released like 3 albums since Anti, many of the songs off them would have debuted in the top 10 as part of an album bomb only to fall out the following week, which is what happens a lot in Drake's case. That's what happened to Juice WRLD who scored 5 top 10 entries and Lil Uzi Vert who scored 3 top 10 entries following the release of their albums last year. Same with Taylor Swift when she debuted 3 songs in the top 10 with Folklore.

Rihanna gave every single she ever released the full treatment: video, radio push, live performances, etc so they always reached their full potential and spent time in the top 10. If she had released more albums/singles in the streaming era, many of them wouldn't have had the same longevity.

Mariah being so high is more impressive considering she's not from the streaming era

Yes, it really is. She has 12 songs with at least 10 weeks in the top 10, another 7 songs with at least 8 weeks in the top 10 and another 6 songs with 7 weeks in the top 10.

She'd have more top 10 hits but there's no assurance they'd spend a lot of time in the top 10. More than ever, radio is very important for any song to have longevity in the top 10.

Half of the songs wouldnt be top 10 without radio. I think the radio component needs to be stripped out of the Hot 100.

I don't think radio needs to be removed entirely but I do think it holds too much power. I've always thought so. Many songs spend multiple weeks in the top 10 simply because they've peaked high on radio and nothing else. Any artist who drops now can debut in the top 10 with a ton of streams/sales but without radio, they're not assured to spend a long time in the top 10.
