The chart runs during their respective initial peaks (1984-1991) were incredibly short which is why they are worth more points than chart runs in the 2000’s and especially the 2010’s. Madonna’s “LAV” spending 6 weeks at #1 between 1984-1985 is worth 12+ weeks at #1 in 2020. Whitney Houston’s “IWALY” spending 14 weeks at #1 between 1992-1993 is worth 20+ weeks at #1 in 2020. Currently, only Rihanna & Drake are touching these acts on the Hot 100 All-Time lists too because of their sheer number of hits.
