luckystrike Posted December 6, 2020 Author Posted December 6, 2020 4 minutes ago, luckystrike said: SONGS To finish the HM section, I chose 10 songs that didn't make it into Luckyfork's () Top 50 songs, but they definitely deserved an honorable mention. At #10 we have Alice Chater with her EP's title track "Aries". I was very hyped for this song because the live performances sounded amazing, and it didn't let me down but it definitely aged. Hope this is not controversial, HYLT was definitely a great comeback imo, I still really like it but comparing it to other releases, it wasn't enough to crack the Top 50. Aly & AJ land at #8 with their droplet "Joan of Arc On the Dancefloor". I definitely liked this more than Attack of Panic (which is still great) but it kind of aged a little and I stopped using it towards the last months of 2020. "Lonely" by Noah Cyrus lands at #7. This song makes me SO sad and I really love it, it's probably one of Noah's best songs so far. I kind of stopped using it 'cause it got a bit old but still hits when it comes on shuffle. In 6th place we have a new 2020 discovery, Swedish debutant Nova Miller really delivered an amazing project and this song was definitely a massive highlight, I can't wait to see what she does next. Now this song is sooo underrated, it's definitely one of my favorites on the album but not quite up there, definitely deserved an honorable mention from me. At #4 we have Alina Baraz's first entry on my list "Say You Know". This song is so relaxing and it brings me such a nice atmosphere, but I definitely have to be in a mood for it. Starting the Top 3 honorable mentions we got the Chromatica and Positions chanteuses with their collab "Rain On Me". This definitely used to be higher in my Top 50, but it did NOT age well. Will they get more entries? Stay chuned. At #2 we got this massive gay bop "STUD" by Troye Sivan. It definitely took me some time to get used to the heavily produced drop, but I grew to love it. And the #1 honorable mention goes to "enemy" by Charli XCX! This is definitely my favorite song on the project, which was questionable, but this one is truly amazing, and missed the Top 50 just by one spot. And we kick off the main lists! I'll reveal #5 and #4 EPs of the Year, and tomorrow I'll reveal the Top 3 and begin with the albums and songs. Kicking things off we have LOONA with [12:00]! This year I got into k-pop for the first time and it was an amazing year for it. This EP has some excellent songs but some messy ITZY sounding ones that bring it down to #5 (yes that means Not Shy is N/A for me) At #4 we have Everglow's latest effort. Even though it is only 4 songs, it is amazing from start to finish, and it maybe would've been higher if it was longer. bump
1998tweety Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 STUD is such a bop, love seeing it not slept on for once cause it's def my fav from the EP. Speaking of Troye's EP, it better be in the Top 3....

Enigmanotta Posted December 7, 2020 Posted December 7, 2020 (edited) Ahhh, we've got to love your top 3 of honorable songs! Perched to see the remaining 3 EPs cause you've started it with strong choices... Edited December 7, 2020 by Enigmanotta added a comment
Mr. Blue_Shirt Posted December 7, 2020 Posted December 7, 2020 Quote HYLT was definitely a great comeback Well that's definitely an unpopular opinion methinks But i still enjoy it for what it is and they were serving MPG energy. Yes Jisoo yes improvement Joan of Arc On the Dancefloor, Enemy, Stud, Wonder What She Thinks of Me Truly the 1-2-3-4 punch Everglow and Loona new EPs are really great
Remmy Posted December 7, 2020 Posted December 7, 2020 Album HMs~ Cape God getting stuck in honorable mentions But at least Allie will get appearances will other lists. Kid Krow is solid Apart was fine, IASS & AIBMH really carried ha. || Song HMs~ Joan of Arc & Rain On Me missing the main list omg STUD needed to grow on me as well but it's great! Wonder What She Thinks of Me enemy is fine.
Ewan Chaos Posted December 7, 2020 Posted December 7, 2020 I like Enemy more than a few songs on that album (Detonate for example), but I think she has better picks
Into The Void Posted December 7, 2020 Posted December 7, 2020 On 12/5/2020 at 10:03 PM, luckystrike said: I will be starting with the EP/Albums honorable mentions to get this over with faster so we can start the main Albums and Songs reveal ASAP EP'S There were not enough EP's released this year imo, so I chose 3 that deserved an honorable mention at least, since I'm only doing Top 5 EP's. In #3 we got Grammy nominated Noah Cyrus' latest effort! Although this EP has quite some filler songs, the good ones really hit me and I really enjoyed. In #2 we got TWICE with More & More. I really enjoy the Zara-penned title track smasha, but some of the other songs on it are very forgettable, although good enough to have an honorable mention. And in #1 for the EP's honorable mentions we got Aries by Alice Chater. At the beginning this was kind of a disappointment because she had been serving excellence until Two of Us, which then became a grower like the rest of the songs, but not enough to enter the main Top 5! ALBUMS This is a relatively new discovery, I found out he made music less than a month ago and I really loved this album, maybe if I had discovered it earlier it would've cracked the main Top 15, but it definitely deserved Omg i totally forgot he released this year. Thank you for reminding me
Macchi Posted December 7, 2020 Posted December 7, 2020 The effort you're putting into this with the images are amazing!
TheWayWeWere Posted December 7, 2020 Posted December 7, 2020 omg, not ROM making it only in HMs Joan Arc is such a bop I hope they'll release album finally I love STUD production, but lyrics... Chloe x Halle
Staryu Posted December 7, 2020 Posted December 7, 2020 ROM one of my faves of the year!! Joan of Arc too, they deserve better enemy is a cute HM placement though.
luckystrike Posted December 7, 2020 Author Posted December 7, 2020 Top 3 EPs of the Year revealed up next, also starting Top 15 Albums of the Year with #15-#14 and Top 50 Songs of the Year with #50-#46 Spoiler 22 hours ago, Psycho said: Aries aged [2] HYLT noisy bop JOAOTD slapper WWSTOM beautiful I'm kinda embarrassed that I included ROM on my list since everyone is putting it in HMs I listened to STUD like once it was nice Enemy is nice Both great mini albums Poor Gaga 22 hours ago, dangerousalex said: alina - say you know is such an emotional song one of the best on the album bestie 22 hours ago, 1998tweety said: STUD is such a bop, love seeing it not slept on for once cause it's def my fav from the EP. luckystrike Posted December 7, 2020 Author Posted December 7, 2020 And the reveal continues! At #3 we gor Raye's Euphoric Sad Songs. I know this is technically a mini album but to me it wasn't long enough to be considered a full LP, so it falls under EPs. It has very few duds and the amazing songs REALLY elevate it. Please Don't Touch was one of my favorite songs of last year dna this definitely lived up to the expectations I had. Discovery of the Year definitely goes to Nova Miller. This debut EP which is 8 songs long realy is amazing from start to finish and is very strong for a debut project. If you're into girls like Zara Larsson or Tove Lo, you definitely should check this out, another amazing Swedish pop girl to the list. I mean... is anyone surprised? No This was one of my Top 3 projects of the year, I love every single song so much and Troye definitely did not let me down with this one, so glad to see the universal acclaim! And we start with my Top 15 Albums of the year! I might go 2 by 2 until i get to the Top 5. Will your faves make it? Will there be major snubs? Stay tuned Kicking things off we got Smile by Katy Perry. This almost didn't make it to be honest but I think it deserved a spot, at least in last place it didn'g age that well, and it has some turrible songs, but the good ones are great and very fun! I know @Auburn will be celebrating when he sees this At #14, and with a very big 180 genre-wise, we got Big Latto's debut project Queen of Da Souf. This was honestly my favorite Hip-Hop/Rap album released this year, I went into it with an open mind since I don't listen to this genre a lot and I surprisingly enjoyed it a lot! I will also kick off my Top 50 songs today! Since I finished EP's I'll be revealing 5 songs and 2-3 albums every day. A very indie selection of girls to kick off the Top 50 will their respective albums make it into the Top 15? Will they get more entries in the Top 50? Stay tuned!
1998tweety Posted December 7, 2020 Posted December 7, 2020 In A Dream at #1 is such a serve...Katy snatching a cute top 15 placement, it certainly wasn't my favourite album this year but if you trim it down it could've easily been a top tier EP.
mokitsu Posted December 7, 2020 Posted December 7, 2020 Troye and Latto were good. I hope to see more Dagny though
Psycho Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 RAYE wouldv'e been an amazing EP if she cut two certain songs Maybe I should listen to this Nova Miller girlie... In A Dream cute, singles serve classics Smile Bye Bye Baby is a Tove Lo'd bop Ashes was cute enough
