K$Ellie Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 Hot Pink was mostly great, wish I had it higher on my list last year but there are like 2-3 huge misses as well Roisin Machine was a great alberm Selena and Jojo songs, well they exist but whew the next 3 back to back wish Betty were pushed as a proper single even if it's not my absolute favorite on the album, In Your Eyes deserved better
TheWayWeWere Posted December 21, 2020 Author Posted December 21, 2020 a bit lil update before finish line TOP 50 ALBUMS 14 Kesha | High Road "Did I **** my whole life up? Did I miss my one true love?"Drag me! I know this album was very questionable on this site, but honestly I loved most of it. Unlike lyrical Rainbow which was her reinvention, on 'High Road' she tries to blend both her new Kesha persona with loveable Ke$ha from the past. And result feels like a mixing bag mostly, there's messy bops like Tonight or Kinky, tearful ballads like Resentment or Cowboy Blues, pop jams like Birthday Suit. And even though I loved Ke$ha being back on some tracks, it's lyrical content that made me love this record at the end. On album's best tracks she growing, learning and healing. It's fun and messy, but in the end it's her celebration of this moment of life. highlights: Cowboy Blues, High Road, BFF, Father Daughter Dance, Summer 13 The Weeknd | After Hours "Where are you now when I need you most?" This album will always be associated with Grammy snub this year On his fourth album tries to make both of his pop side and madness of his music work together. And the result is actually working, album is full of one of his sexiest tracks with ranchiest references to drugs/money/alcohol, it's full of dark haunting tracks and some of his best pop tracks to date. Album blows your mind through listening so you actually feel like you've been drunk, drugged and tortured on some of most intimate moments. highlights: Hardest to Love, Too Late, Faith, Save Your Tears, Until I Bleed Out TOP 100 SINGLES 24 Kylie Minogue | Say Something "You could light up the dark like a solar scape" I had mixed feeling to this song, I loved this at first, then get tired of it quickly, but after album release it glows even more. Luxurious, massive mirrorball anthem - one of the biggest standouts from the record. 23 Mariah Carey, Lauryn Hill | Save the Day "I wonder, where is the love?" Blast from the past The 10 year old unreleased song finally gets released this year and it's a jam! It's low-key better than a half of Elusive Chanteuse I would like original Lauryn collab, but welp, sample sounds amazing on here. Beat drop sounds catchy as hell, lyrics sends timely message and Mariah provides this both with her sharp tone voice and some whistles 22 Róisín Murphy | Murphy's Law "I feel my story's still untold"It's ****ing fierce and glorious! It feels like disco standard already! Both lyrically and musically amazing. 21 Jessie Ware | What's Your Pleasure? "Push, press, more, less"What's my Pleasure, Jessie? It's to watch you dancing around in latex with a big wig on with this masterpiece playing loud. It was fun to listen to when it came out too because right when the album was finished and it went to the long extended mixes, I found out Trump had COVID and had an even more massive dance party LOL. In Your Eyes is good, but honestly I still prefer Blinding Lights even if it's overplayed now! But I'd say neither are my top 3 of the album. And Break my Heart and Betty are both great album picks too! Ooh and I guess both were technically singles too (Obviously BMH was but I always forget Betty is). Rare Lonely Hearts + Break My Heart In Your Eyes is absolutely delicious, deserved to smash alongside (or after) Blinding Lights instead of barely getting a shot at success. I still slightly prefer BL though. 23 hours ago, TalkThatRihanna said: Hot Pink and BMH are great choices 23 hours ago, Blue Rose said: Roisin Machine and Hot Pink are both amazing. TalkThatRihanna Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 After Hours Surprised to see Kesha so high. I have her on one of my lists not the “Best Of” list though
Kevin2803 Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 I kinda forgot that High Road was released this year After Hours Say Something is so high on many lists I mean, it's cute, but really THAT cute?
Ewan Chaos Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 Great top After Hours tracks. For me it'll always be associated as the first album released during quarantine rather than the Grammy bull****, thankfully. "I feel my story's still untold" I have stolen this line which is YES fearless, and made it my manifesto. WYP (song) is ****ing flawless too. The single mix makes me like a TINY bit annoyed because the outro is SO good and it's basically cut down 75%, but I mean Jessie can do no wrong usually. Say Something, also bops MASSIVELY.

Mr. Loco Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 After hours is such a great album!! The Weeknd's best by far!

It's high on my list but I have to agree with you... it's cute but Kylie can do a lot better me thinks ______ High Road was such a HUGE missed opportunity. She should've gone the Gaga route and served 09/10 electro-pop. I haven't listened to After Hours but I like Heartless. Say Something I've seen all the old gays on forum.popjustice.com RAVE about Roisin Murphy and Jessie Ware's albums. I might listen to them when I'm 45
BlackoutZone Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 Not High Road kii! BUT all the songs are 10/10
ATRL Moderator Legend E Posted December 21, 2020 ATRL Moderator Posted December 21, 2020 after hours the song list is perfect omg

GreatestLoveofAll Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 Say Something and Save The Day wow i didnt think anyone liked that song very much tbh. I didnt listen to Kesha's album but ig i might now...
Lazuli Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 high road WAY too overhated tbh! after hours say something, murphy's law and what's your pleasure, the trinity of disco greatness
Remmy Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 Surprised to see High Road here! Kween Kesha deserves the love though. Ahhh yes I love seeing Cowboy Blues in your highlights, it's so good and has just the right amount of quirkiness. Father Daughter Dance + Summer BFF is my least favorite for sure After Hours A solid release from Abel that easily deserved at least ONE damn Grammy nom. My trinity is absent from your highlights but they're all nice choices. WYP? missing the top 20
