smholiv Posted December 18, 2020 Posted December 18, 2020 HAIM I will give Fiona another listen. I'm not so sure she's an artist for me, but I feel like if this album connected so vividly with a lot of people I will give it another try!
Remmy Posted December 18, 2020 Posted December 18, 2020 WIM3 is generally good, wasn't in love with all of it though. But as someone that never cared for them before & only likes a few tracks from the other 2 albums, it's certainly an improvement. Plus there's enough highlights to return to every now and then. Tried out some Fiona songs back when the Bolt Cutters hype was at its highest, she's just simply not for me.
Ghostlysnaker Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 The Big Moon was interesting I really enjoy it tbh

Sunderland 4ever Posted December 19, 2020 Author Posted December 19, 2020 Early update today. Will comment on your YECDs in around twelve hours. Top 20 albums is coming up tomorrow! 18 hours ago, dweebz said: Oop, Fiona not even making top 50. Its the way Shamika would have liked it. We stan a diverse list! Always 18 hours ago, Madame X said: FIONA not even top 50 it stings, cause the 2 albums surrounding it were relative disappointments for me. caribou's forgettable and haim's had the shadow of summer girl/now im in it the whole time. I must confess that I haven't played Caribou's full album in a long time. 17 hours ago, Blue Rose said: Fiona flopping Caribou’s album is spectacular and shouldve been higher! Kelly Lee Owens has now been featured in 4 countdowns. Main Indie Girl Yes! I saw her in three other YECDs apart from mine yesterday. Well deserved. 16 hours ago, Mark Rih said: Oh wow at Fiona missing the top 50 excited for the top 40! It's coming! 16 hours ago, Ewan Chaos said: Ethan Gruska YAAAAAAAS. HAIM, Fiona, and Caribou back to back. Fiona so low though! But it's okay. Oh The Big Moon's album! That was one of the first albums I listened to this year as well, but not the first (I think the first was Field Music or w/e their name is). Take a Piece is my fave song too I think that album is somewhere on my top 100. I knew you were going to know Ethan! I if hadn't given that record a second try, it probably wouldn't even have made the Top 100. The Big Moon was among the first 5 records I listened to this year for sure. 15 hours ago, ARTPØP said: HAIM 14 hours ago, TheWayWeWere said: Fiona HAIM almost top 50 14 hours ago, Pink Matter said: Haim Fiona not top 50 I remember listening to the Caribou album only once but I really liked it! ikiru Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 Ohh great update! What's Your Pleasure is a great record! But I'm not that crazy about it! The Avalanches album being that high a few days after it's release, wow! the soccer mommy album was cute, I enjoyed listening to it but it's quite forgettable. Future Nostalgia is amazing!
Pink Matter Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 Dua, Jessie, Tame Had no idea Caroline Rose dropped an album
Mr. Loco Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 Future nostalgia! We love an album full of bops
TheWayWeWere Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 WYP is modern masterpiece, wish it was higher :' ( Future Nostalgia
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 19, 2020 ATRL Moderator Posted December 19, 2020 i TOTALLY forgot to listen to caroline rose this year and yeah soccer mommy is lower for me lol, glad to see jessie in the 2nd to last update!!!
Mr. Blue_Shirt Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 Oh wow i need to catch up After Hours, Feel Feelings, Petals For Armor, Fleur, Abracadabra, folklore, The Archer, Women In Music Pt. III and Fetch The Bolt Cutters made it into the list What's Your Pleasure?, The Slow Rush & Future Nostalgia are the trinity (even though i kinda hate TSR though ddd) Also kinda shocked that someone like that Camilo album, i've seen couple of people didn't like it. Even though i never heard of it yet, but the singles are bops nnn i've seen a lot of people mentioning Caroline Rose these days, so i think i might try to listen to her
Ewan Chaos Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 Jessie Ware cracking the top 40! Tame Impala & Woods right after too, nice. The Avalanches album is still on my list to check out; I get bad at listening to albums released in December around Best Of season but I'll check it & my other records out before the year ends. Only really liked the title track from Soccer Mommy's album. And Caroline Rose... I was honesty disappointed with that record! Some good songs on their but I really, really, REALLY loved her 2018 album, so maybe it's my fault for having high expectations. Future Nostalgia also making it into the top 30 Good In Bed tho... easily my least favorite from the album LOL soz
Blue Rose Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 Tame Impala and Beach Bunny above Jessie? This is a crime. The Avalanches stomping after only one week
TalkThatRihanna Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 Future Nostalgia And 100% agree about GIB being a standout
ATRL Moderator Legend E Posted December 20, 2020 ATRL Moderator Posted December 20, 2020 WYP and FN are too low
Green Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 Future Nostalgia and What's Your Pleasure? are dance-pop excellence
Remmy Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 I believe Soccer Mommy is someone I looked at in the past, maybe not from that album though. What's Your Pleasure? + Future Nostalgia We love those ATRL and critic darlings! WYP?, Soul Control, Pretty Please, Don't Start Now in your favorites Surprised that GIB + BWBB are there as well when a lot of people say those are their bottom 2 (only 1 of them is in mine.)
potent Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 WYP is a slayage of course, and good to see TSR getting appreciation even if you didn't like it as much as their previous stuff The last 2 tracks on FN finally not getting dragged they are fine especially BWBB That's all I know this set although I had liked some songs by The Avalanches in the past
Sunderland 4ever Posted December 20, 2020 Author Posted December 20, 2020 (edited) So we finally reached the Top 20! We've got six albums reaching the 90 mark this time (compared to three last year). Just like last year, there was a tie in the first place, although between only two albums this time, not three. Winner was decided based on total scrobbles. If you have free time today, give yourself the chance to check at least one of my Top albums of the year. 19 hours ago, Mark Rih said: Dua, Jessie and Tame Impala, love these Me too 19 hours ago, Post Malone said: FN and TSR Two fine choices 18 hours ago, ikiru said: Ohh great update!
